Fortunately, some very gifted and talented individuals have given the time and effort to modify a ton of games to run from HD as well as later TOS versions and RAM combinations. Now I am waiting for a cable that hopefully works with my 1084S D1 monitor, so I can output the normal sound to that, while my MIDI goes to my stereo. From what I could find, to switch the MT32 into Channel 1-8 mode, you hold down Master and press 5, then press 1 and the channels become 1-8. Though I still couldn't get U3 to output to it (from ppera's HD install). Uhm, I never played it on the ST, so not sure. I just know of the aforementioned tracks on the Britannia disk for U4 on the 8bit. Hopefully it doesn't have one of those genius ones like Dungeon Master or Alternate Reality. Cool that he said he would do it. He modified OIDs for me to add JagPad support. I think it would be pretty easy to buy a Sound Canvas off ebay or something but has anyone installed a software package lite FluidSynth to a Raspberry PI and then piped the ST's MIDI into that for music? I was just trying to show the differences between FluidSynth and MUNT so that you could see how they sound to see which one you wanted to try on the Rpi before dropping some cash on real hardware. The use on the MiSTer was just the platform those two MIDI synthesiser were played on. I don't have my ST & Falcon out right now (no room) but I had planned to choose one of the Rpi Midi solutions so that I could do the very same thing you're doing. It's an awesome feature that I wish more devs had done back in the day but with the cost of the hardware, it's a shame that only a couple years after release of the ST chips like the Yamaha YM3812 were available that produced way better sounds than the ST's Yamaha YM2149F. Just as long as ALSA or Jack is configured properly to connect fluidsynth to MIDI-in My only word of warning is I've tried various cheap USB <-> MIDI cables, and found they have timing issues that can mess up the music. Pretty sure it's the cables at fault since I tried them with multiple devices and OSes. What were you planning to use to connect the Pi to the ST? Ha, the first USB MIDI cable I bought would literally cause my desktop PC to not boot (it caused some weird issue at the UEFI level, so if I left it plugged it the system would lock up. I have no plan yet on how to even construct a Pi with a MIDI import but I just like the idea so want to understand what's been done by others. I do plan on testing it myself, but I'm likely to skip the physical midi cables and go with some kind of virtual midi. The midi keyboard I have now does midi over USB, I run Atari ST & Dos under emulation, etc. So to convert the midi output to use physical MIDI cables only to convert back to USB is likely asking for trouble. But I'm not 100% sure you can do a direct USB<->USB with a Pi and what kind of cabling it requires (USB OTG?). I have to do more research.
