Back to the Future screenplay

Recommended Posts

So I was watching a youtube video about the making of Back To The Future.  They talk about writing the first version of the screenplay for the movie.  The picture they show while talking about writing the screenplay has Bob Gale using a word processor.  Its hard to tell but that sure looks like an Atari XE computer.  That would be a pretty cool bit of history if the screen play for one of the most iconic movies made was written on an Atari.

What do you guys think?

Here is the video.

The picture is at 3:56

I remembered this being mentioned previously. There's probably other threads too.

Ha!  I thought that this might have been caught before.  I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything.  Oh well.  Sorry for the re-hash. :)

Yep, been there, done that, it's still cool though. Someone was commenting on the printer there in one of the previous threads too.

Could be an Indus GT right of the computer and beneath the printer.

1985. It is an XE, that was established for sure in the previous thread about it. I also owned one for 20 years and can verify, even from that poor picture that it is an XE.

The problem I see - first draft of BTTF was 1981.  Though with films it's not uncommon for massive rewrite if it's a book to screenplay translation and not uncommon for script changes during filming and even during post-production.

I first saw this picture and a mini book released together with BTTF3.  Back To the Future : The Official Book of the Complete Movie Trilogy. by  Klastorin, Michael and Hibbin, Sally

So I think that by 1990 there were plenty of Atari XEs
