TI Joystick Oddity

I was playing some old games on my finalgrom and I noticed an oddity with my now ancient TI joysticks.

Seems like at the start of a game, the fire button was detected every time pressed, even with very little force applied.

A few seconds in to the game.. donkey kong, parsec, ti invaders is would fail to detect fire, but still pick up the directional presses.

 

Same games, same console, etc, but I hooked up my amiga joysticks for the TI, the problem totally disappeared.

 

I took some de-ox it to the TI joysticks (connector and pads), but the problem remained the same.

 

Anyone else seen this behavior?

Dan, The remedy to this problem is to cut the controllers free from the cables and toss them into the trash. The cables may be used for future controller projects.
