WORST ST Game...

Seeing as the BEST ST game thread has taken off, why not a WORST ST game thread?

 

IMHO, I would have to say Crazy Cars 1. CC2 was much better, but that's not saying a lot.

RBI Baseball by Tengen.

 

What a piece of sh*T! This wasn't anything like baseball. No substituting players, no pitch variations, strange field dimensions (center field closer than right field), outfielders throwing out baserunners at first regularly, impossible to follow the ball shadow to catch a fly ball, cheerleaders (there are none in baseball), etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.

 

I wanted a baseball game SSOOO badly on the ST. All we got were soccer and cricket. (Apologies to the sportsfans outside North America) We at least got TV Sports Football though which was pretty good. No basketball except for GBL 2-on-2 Basketball which was ok.

 

But, I saved my allowance for RBI Baseball, but all I got was a piece of crap. Luckily my Atari dealer was cool and let me return it.

 

Even though I'm a diehard ST fan, the ST sports game selection really sucked.

R-Type was a big disappointment for me.

 

Not the worst game I'm sure, and the graphics were OK,

but the gamepaly was mangled from the arcade version.

 

I had to wait tor R-Types on the Playstation to get a good

conversion, but it was worth the wait!

Some of the arcade-to-ST translations from Atari really SUCKED. Especially Hard/Race Drivin' and STUN Runner. Escape from the Planet of the RM wasn't too bad, but it just didn't feel right.

Really? I thought Hard Drivin was pretty good myself. EPRM, however didn't feel right because it didn't scroll like the arcade machine.

 

It looke fantastic though.

I never played RBI baseball for the ST (unfortunately

but I did play it for the NES like, nearly right after it was released

and I actually had fun playing that game with a buddy of mine.

 

Maybe it's just th ST version that stinks?

All Atari games / arcade conversions done by Domark/Tengen looked like rushed products. Not saying they're the worst games ever, but they could have been much better.

Very, very bad. It's a terrible port of the arcade game.

I'll admit that Starwars and empire strikes back are good games for it's day. Were they made by Tengen?

 

So maybe i'm wrong by saying all games, but most conversions by Domark/Tengen i found to be dissapointing.

 

I think Schoolyard slaughter was one of the worst games.

Just to prove to myself that I wasn't high on crack during my last "Moon Patrol" playtest, I tried it again last night. Conclusion: it still sucks.

(That is, in comparison with other versions of the game. It's too easy to crash the lunar rover, and the ST version has a godawful colour palette).

Dynasty Wars was pretty poor, some nice GFX, but just not fun to play.. I think I nearly completed it in the first sitting (actually turned it off due to boredom )
