bluejay
I found this weird Mouse System optical mouse for early Macintoshes. I couldn't find any info about this online; does anyone know anything about this and how much it's worth?(If it's worth a bit, I could trade it for an original M0100 mouse since I can't make use of the mouse because I don't have the weird reflective pad.) Flojomojo
Yellow on top, white on the bottom. Like the nerdiest Coppertone ad ever. I wouldn't expect it to be worth much, especially if it is missing a part. 1
bluejay
Hmm... I don't know how these old optical mouses work, but it went haywire when I placed it on the CRT.
wierd_w
optical. they use an aluminium grid plate as a mouse pad.
bluejay
hmm... Apparently I can print my own pad using transparent paper and tinfoil, except I don't have transparent paper. I tried using it with tinfoil but it's kinda like trying to use a keyboard with no key caps. It works, but it does its job horribly. Now I gotta find transparent paper. Goddammit. wierd_w
Get a bundle of tracing paper. It can go through a laser printer. Additionally, you can use magazine paper, print your grid on that with a laser printer, then transfer it to aluminum sheet metal with either the Hot Iron, or Solvent Rub techniques. desiv
I have a mouse systems mouse for my Amiga. It also came without the grid mousepad. I did the transparency and foil bit for a while. It did make it work, but not well. I eventually found an auction for a PC version of that mouse with the pad and got that. The mouse works much better with a real mouse systems grid pad. That said, I only used it for a bit and went back to my original mouse. It's a great curio, but that's about it. Not sure there is any collectible value there.
