neogeo aes Neo Geo AES Carts for sale

Just a post to gauge any interest before i put these to auction on ebay...but I have 4 Neo Geo AES carts (originals, not duplicates or conversions) that I'm about to put to auction on ebay, unless anyone want to make me any offers here. They are all in mint condition & complete & in perfect working order (have been stored in a wardrobe since purcahse during the  late 1990's) and I can and am more than willing to supply pics, and other details, to prove their originality. Just for interests sake, I am the same person who sold a super-rare Kizuna Encounter Euro AES cart back in 2004, and can verify this if required. This is ony to help verify my legitimacy and bolster confidence in any interested parties. The carts are all 100% real - and although I dont expect some of the astronomical amounts asked for these games by ebay "buy-it-now" sellers, I would like any potential offers to be realistic, before I bite the bullet and ebay them...

Proof of not being repro's is gonna be needed for sure by any buyer. Mark of the Wolves is such a common one that has some good/sneaky repro's out there.

I agree, unfortunately there is virtually indistinguishable from the original reproductions of some of these games out there.

Hi all,

 

I'll be more than happy to prove/verify by any means possible that these carts are not repros... I'm in Australia where, from the mid '90's up until around 2001 small numbers of Euro/U.S. version AES releases were imported by specialist video game stores (known as independent stores at the time, as opposed to chain retailers such as E.B. Games, K-mart, Virgin Megastore etc.) on request of customers like myself... who would be given a 'phonecall' from the gamestore every few months to let us know of upcoming releases and pre-order them. Earlier in the 90's ('93-'94) the chain stores had stocked NeoGeo, but soon stopped due to lack of sales. From about '95-'96 onwards the only way to get new AES U.S. & Euro games was via the independents - one such was Game Infinity in Sydney, Game Power (in Adelaide, where I live) was another. They were sourced from specialist gamestores in the U.S. such as Master the Game (one that I remember). Ahh, the glory days of the mid '90's - DieHard GameFan mag, 32 bit just arriving with the 3D0, FM Towns, Playstation 1...and NeoGeo AES still being the only console with 1:1 arcade-to-home translations. Which seemed expensive at the time. If only I had known, I would have bought 1 of EVERY U.S. release and a fair few Japanese games too.

 

Among these many sought after titles such as Metal Slug 1,2, X, 3, Last Blade 1,2, Fatal Fury Real Bout series up to Mark of the Wolves, Neo Turf Masters, Ninja Masters, Ultimate 11 (which I once had & sold to another NeoGeo AES owner for...$400 lol), Samurai Showdown IV etc. etc. and also Japanese only titles that are hard to find as originals - Pulstar, Blazing Star (which I have), Shock Troopers 2 (which I have) to name a few.

 

Anyway, to any seriously interested parties i the U.S. it may even be possible to send carts to a colleague of a trusted friend of mine who lives in the U.S. (in Boston from memory) and meet/check the carts in person before making purchase/any $ transacted. Thats how willing I'll be to prove that any of my collection i decide to sell are all 100% legitimate...

I'm Aaron Hillier - the Aaron H. mentioned in the forum posts (and happy to supply verified I.D./passport to prove identity if requested. The game was sold in 2004 through an acquaintance of mine (also a NeoGeo AES owner at the time) in Sydney, Daine McDonald, who was better known - and hence trusted - among the U.S. NeoGeo community.

 

Sorry for overly long post, but just want to assure anyone interested that all is above board, and that I'll do whatever possible to prove thats the case. I realise that nowadays many rip-off merchants are out there, guess it's the same with any items that are collectable, sought after...and fakeable.

 

If you'd like a list of my collection of carts (in XL format) feel free to PM me. Havent decided yet exactly which games I want to sell and which are keepers, but you're more than welcome to ask. I won't be looking for amounts that ebay buy-it-now sellers etc. are asking, but it's not a fire-sale also.

Hi Blazing Lazers - I'll send you an XL list of all my NeoGeo AES carts - none of them are conversions and many of them are shmups (was always into them more than the fighters, apart from AOF 3 and SVC-Chaos, both of which I have as U.S.) and I have 4 of the Slugs.

 

The carts I started this post with were just the titles I've gone through the 'letting go of these from the collection' process with and now comforatble with myself to sell. As Im sure you can imagine, a collection that grew from the first cart I ever bought (Magician Lord) then became comfortable paying AU$350 per game for (from Art of Fighting onwards) and over a period of 10 years grew into one of 60+ games - that I've had ever since but played less and less as the '90s wore on & became more about owning them but have kept until now as my 'prize' possession - is not an easy one to start to part with. But i certainly am considering selling others in the near future. Except perhaps Blazing Star - my pride and joy since I was lucky enough to receive one of 2 only that Game Infinity in Sydney in '98 was able to get as part of their order (orders for carts from S.N.K. to resellers/distributors at the time, I believe, were often only partially fulfilled as financial pressures grew and production runs declined).

 

Also, to further alleviate any suspicion that ANY of my AES carts may be conversions/repros or in any other way not 100% legitimate (healthy and warranted - given that I'm not a known/regular AES seller or forum poster), and in light of McCarseat and sdamike's posts earlier in the thread - which of course were both absolutely spot on now that MVS-AES and other repro's/conversions are now so commonplace - please check out:

Have been doing some research & it seems the key to identifying legitimacy in general for highly bootllegged/converted NeoGeo AES U.S./Euro AND Japanese carts (such as Blazing Star, Metal Slugs, Mark of the Wolves etc.) - is that besides being complete with manual + inserts, the quality of the insert, manual and cart label printing, especially along sharp, contrasting colour borders, should not show signs of fuzziness and high-res pics should stand up to close scrutiny. (of course, all legitimate AES carts were maufactured with inserts printed using industrial printing techniques at the time, resulting in a quality which would be hard to match nowadays - by even the most committed bootleggers). Secondly, compare detailed pics of the insert, cart label & manual against reference sets of A.E.S Cart pictures, as detailed in the post for Kizuna Encounter Euro. I think these should be readily available online still with a bit of searching - neogeo.com would be a good place to start. So I'll do a bit of research on taking hi-res pics of the above (and get a better camera/iphone than the one I used to take the pics I've posted already) and will happily supply them for closer investigation.

Bumping this thread because I just took delivery of my latest collection gem: an AES title that I bought from Aaron and had shipped to me halfway around the world, one that I had never previously owned, but had seen other copies of in person. For those hesitant about the possibility of these being repros, you have nothing to worry about. Aaron is indeed the real deal, and so are his carts. I've owned a lot of other AES games over the years, and followed the Neo scene for just as long. I know what a real cart is, and a lot of the backstory on several of the really rare titles.

 

Beyond a perfect transaction with surprisingly quick shipping, Aaron is also good for knowledge, and very generous with his insights on how the Neo scene once was. His communication is unsurpassed, and so detailed that by itself it verifies everything about him and his marvelous carts.

 

If there's any Neo and/or fighting game fans here reading this, you have a rare opportunity to buy a legit AES gem or two from one of the OG back in the day Neo collectors. Take it!

I’m another happy customer of scandl71’s. He sold me a Euro robo army AES game. It arrived and I opened Up the cart to check the PCB’s to make sure it was Authentic and everything was good to go.

Very happily giving Aaron a free bump, as I just took delivery of some more of his wonderful AES gems. While there was a delay due to all of the ongoing global virus-related shipping backlogs, the games did indeed arrive safely. They were very well packed  and look nearly immaculate.

Very happily bumping this thread, as I've had several additional purchases from Aaron and wanted to confirm for all interested parties that buying his AES gems is an extraordinarily rare opportunity that should not be passed up.  He and his games are absolutely legit, and his professionalism and service as a seller is unsurpassed and rarely equalled. The original Neo Geo collectors from back in the '90s do not often part with their treasures (to put it mildly) but when they do there's nobody better to buy from.
