ed1475 #1 Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) Here's a video I uploaded of a 40mb Zip Drive for the Coleco ADAM. It uses a MicroFox IDE controller card and an Iomega Zip drive instead of the usual CF card setup. I got this several years ago in an eBay auction. rietveld #2 Posted March 7, 2020 That is very cool. I can't seem to get my iomega 250 to work. Maybe it's only able to use the 100(which I don't have) Anyway it's a nice setup

I tried all combinations of jumper settings but no luck. I guess that the larger Zip drives use the same ATA Packet interface as CD roms Edited March 7, 2020 by rietveld
MrPix #5 Posted March 7, 2020 The 250 should fall back to PIO mode if ATAPI isn’t supported. Weird.

The drive must be labeled as a Zip IDE in the id label; ATAPI drives will not work. These are hard to find and are the only ones that will work. If I recall, the 100 version is the only one that will work. The small Sparq drives work the same way as the Zip. Other than a cool adaptation, the mainline IDE hd or the CF versions are easier and more reliable to use.
