towmater #1 Posted March 8, 2020 (edited) Does anyone know how to run NSML on a Powerpak? All I see is the title screen, which locks up. I also tried a Dr. Professor II, but the rom is too big for one floppy and I'm not sure how they split to multiple disks. (EDIT) This message was referring to running it on an original Super Famicom, I just tried the same Powerpak on a Hyperkin handheld and Super Mario Land ran OK. So, NSML is OK on clones but not on original hardware. Edited March 8, 2020 by towmater
Atariboy #2 Posted March 8, 2020 Chances are that your Super Powerpak wasn't making good contact with the SNES cartridge slot. A Hyperkin system isn't going to be able to play a SNES game that a genuine SNES can't and none of the news I read about this homebrew said it's incompatible with real hardware. It works perfectly by the way on a Super Nt with the jailbreak firmware.

Atariboy #4 Posted March 8, 2020 (edited) Of course, but what I'm saying is give it a second go since there's no reason why it shouldn't be working. The game is confirmed as compatible with genuine SNES hardware and your Super Powerpak obviously plays nicely with it if a lowly clone system is able to play it successfully. A cartridge plugged into a console isn't a 100% guarantee that the cartridge edge connector is making good contact with the pins in the console's cartridge slot. So I suspect if you give it a second go, you'll find that it's working. If not, something needs to be cleaned on your SNES and if that fails, New Super Mario Land possibly is pushing your SNES in a particular way that other games you've played recently haven't been, and is bringing to light a component that is off spec now from old age.
