I watched the 8-Bit Guy retrobright a C-64 a week or so back using some wild looking UV lights with great results.  I ordered a pair of them this evening after realizing that I would probably never get the case back to the original shade without some help.  Hopefully, they will make a difference.  I'll either melt it down or get it back to the original color.

The bottom case back needs more work, but it is much better.  I need to turn the back towards the window for a few days.

What do you think?

MUCH better than it looked in your first pictures!

As for the UV lights: it should definitely speed up the process.  I just wouldn't do more than 3 or 4 hours the first time around (depending on what size lights you get) in order to avoid going too far.

This is after 3 days (9-10 hours) retrobrighting with peroxide creme this week and 2 hours in a clear peroxide/water solution under UV lamps.

It looks really good, very light with no blooming and an even tone all around.  It is vastly improved.  I can't get it to match that one spot on the cart door and doubt I ever will, so I'm calling it done and getting ready for re-assembly.

That seems a really nice clean output, is that solely from the monitor port?

Yes, that's stock S-Video run through an upscaler.
