Colleton
I watched the 8-Bit Guy retrobright a C-64 a week or so back using some wild looking UV lights with great results. I ordered a pair of them this evening after realizing that I would probably never get the case back to the original shade without some help. Hopefully, they will make a difference. I'll either melt it down or get it back to the original color. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FSZGP1Q

I need to turn the back towards the window for a few days. What do you think? MUCH better than it looked in your first pictures! As for the UV lights: it should definitely speed up the process. I just wouldn't do more than 3 or 4 hours the first time around (depending on what size lights you get) in order to avoid going too far. Colleton
I think I'll check at the 2 hour point and then go from there. If it weren't for the patch on the cart door I'd probably call it good right now. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
Kyle22
Just don't get the strong stuff. Interesting thing about high purity / strength H2O2. If you drip drop by drop it on the earth - the soil that is the ground, it bursts into flames. Extremely strong Oxidizer. Strong H2O2 is very! dangerous. Colleton
I'm using Salon Care 40 Volume from Sally Beauty. It should be safe, at least nothing has caught fire yet.

The Germans used it as a rocket fuel for the Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet Rocket Plane, but later abandoned it because of how difficult and dangerous it was to handle. ClausB
Peroxide was not abandoned in rocketry. The Soyuz rocket, for one, still uses it. The Komet was abandoned for rather larger reasons! Edited March 11, 2020 by ClausB
Colleton
This is after 3 days (9-10 hours) retrobrighting with peroxide creme this week and 2 hours in a clear peroxide/water solution under UV lamps. It looks really good, very light with no blooming and an even tone all around. It is vastly improved. I can't get it to match that one spot on the cart door and doubt I ever will, so I'm calling it done and getting ready for re-assembly.

Caterpiggle
So you are asking the impossible 255 in very early stage of per-released Atari 800 before the official market ? Or either in very low serial number in CITA as such ? Myself, I do not believe to have any early Atari 800, just normal standard 800. luckybuck
Yes Caterpiggle, both the OS 255 and a maybe(!) OS B PAL. We assume, the OS B PAL was never released.
Caterpiggle
All my Atari 800 are NTSC , none in PAL.
luckybuck
OS 255 is NTSC and will ever be...
Caterpiggle
So 255 is NTSC Rev. A instead of standard NTSC Rev. B like mine.
