3D Scart Genie 9640 Case

For all you 3D printing gurus out there.

 

I decided to try my hand at designing a 3D enclosure for the Scart Genie 9640.

 

I am still trying to figure out how to attach the top to the enclosure.  suggestions welcome.

 

Another question though.  I have the top that should fit nicely in the base enclosure.  I have created a layer for it to sit on, like a shelf.  My question is how much difference on the offset of the small shelf should I make it for 3d printing.  I know it cant be the exact same size, it must be smaller.  What is the best rule of thumb?
