75%

That might be 90% or even more.

No preference at all, we are simply used to PAL.

Actually, I have both, PAL and NTSC machines. If an entry is NTSC only, no problem at all.

But I guess, that most NTSC run well on PAL machines, only faster. The other way round seems to make more trouble.

As a noob programmer in Germany, I would not know about how to code to ensure it runs on both, so I would just make it run on my machine, which is PAL and than probably have someone look at it.

Forcing all entries to run on PAL and NTSC might keep some programmers from handing in something at all. That wouldn´t be good. But we surely can try to give even more advice on how to ensure programs run on all standards.

I'm one of the 25% for a year now. I had a PAL Antic installed in my 1200XL since the early 2000's that I used with a 50/60Hz CBM 1084S monitor for years. When that went Belly-up (not for good!) I converted to full PAL and have used that for both PAL/NTSC gaming for the last 4 years or so using a modern LCD TV that handles NTSC/PAL. I've also had an NTSC 800 for a couple of years now. I do have a second NTSC 1200XL, but it hasn't been running for years and I haven't gotten around to fixing it. My point being, even as an American, I've had no issue with PAL/NTSC for 15+ years.

Many programs, thanks to all people involved!

@holgibo I've seen that on some games you mentioned other authors.

I guess the files will be available after the JHV?

Depends on the decision of the author. I will publish my contribution as soon as the result is announced.

The JHV will be an online-JHV this year, taking place on november 14th, at 6p.m. So the results will be available no sooner than that (not in october as all the years before)... see e.g. the starting page of Abbuc www.abbuc.de

Now that the magazines are arriving (at least in Europe), I was wondering when the ATR files would be posted to the contest website.

ATR files are there to download for Abbuc members now. Log in into Abbuc main page, surf to members download section, get magazine 142 and "Sondermagazin 52" files.

Ok. I was expecting it at the link on the asc.abbuc.de website. The main ABBUC website does not work well on my iPhone.

I will try to download them later.

Thanks for having a link to the contest entries on the ABBUC home page. I have been able to download them now.

Unfortunately, the drop-down menus on the website tend to only work sometimes on my iPhone.

ABBUC Magazine #142 landed in Switzerland.

This year's games are awesome but I want to thank people involved in magazine (very good quality), floppy disks, packaging and shipping.

Cosign here, I opened the enveloppe and had an immediate WOW reaction.
The new cover is an eyecatcher.
Thanks everybody involved.

Last Squadron preview

I finally had a chance to play Last Squadron for a bit yesterday (Abbuc #142 floppy disk), and I love it. Easily the best vertically scrolling shooter for A8's (besides AtariBlast!) in terms of graphics and game play combined, another new standard barer, IMHO. Not only do I think it makes up for a lack of a finished Xevious on the A8, but it is like an 8-bit Raiden in many ways. I have yet to make it to a first boss, however, but I've been really impressed thus far and look forward to a new addiction.
