Oddest non-game thing you have sold on Ebay (and will admit)

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what you all have used ebay to sell. Thinking there may be some money in wierd stuff. I just sold an old magazine for 22 bucks.

Strange.

An out of print Dixie Chicks CD for $100. Luckily it was a couple of weeks before they stuck their feet in their mouths :D

Man, I need to sell some more stuff on eBay. But the question is, are these examples of the rule or the exception? I would guess exception. Who here has tried to sell something unusual and gotten no real response?

I can't say I've sold anything horribly unusual on eBay yet...I guess there was the Six Million Dollar Man snap together model, half assembled, for something like $6. About $5.50 more than I figured it would fetch, but I hated to just throw it away and I have no time for a yard sale.

Oh yeah, I just remembered, something like $50 for this set of Star Wars cards that were free from Pop Tarts or something when I was a kid...it came with a holder that you had to send away for. I have zero interest in Star Wars so when I found it in a box, eBay here I come!

But that really doesn't strike me as wierd, considering the crap I buy off eBay...I think calling that wierd, or jeans or an old magazine, would be the pot calling the kettle black, when the pot paid $5 to ship a few sheets of video game related stickers on more than one occassion.

But I was young and foolish then :ponder:

I sold a pair of old 501s I found in my Aunts garage for the shockingly unexpected price of $521.

I thought you were kidding - then I did an ebay search on 501s... WTF! 3,600 for a pair of jeans? WHO THE FRICK COLLECTS JEANS?

(well, alright, they might be saying the same thing about Atari... :ponder:)

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a special forum just for ebay discussions and special forum members with special powers that could...move them to it? :D

I'm allllllways selling odd/bizarre stuff on eBay. Some of my more unusual items:

1. a program from the world premiere of "Gilligan's Island: The Musical," Flat Rock, NC, 1992

2. a screener copy of the last episode of Babylon 5 sent to me by....whatever production company used to film it. What made it valuable is that I had it in my hands 1 month before the show was to air. That beast netted me hundreds from the B5 fans who just HAD to be the first to see it.

3. original artwork from The Amazing Spider-Man signed by Mark Bagley - the guy who now does Ultimate Spider-Man. (The look of the MTV series and blockbuster movie is loosely based on his style)

4. a six-pack of MASH beer

5. a six-pack of Billy beer

Hmmm... lets see....

Old CastIron Microphone I got free at a yard sale and sat on my mantle for 15 years brought $950

Fender Guitar I my dad had since the 60's brought $1,000

Wednesday I bought this random tool at an auction for $5. I looked it up on ebay and it sells for over $700

Jewel Tea tooth powder can, unopened, $250

Nazi Swastika Coins... I was the FIRST seller of these. I bought like 200 from a dealer for $.10 a piece, and sold on eBay 3 at a time, often 3 bringing over $20.

Old 1880s book on manners Decorum, $160

Dish Netword PVR recorder brought $270

and I could go on. I just wanted to brag :D :D :D

Bjybjy,

Which type of Nazi coins? The cheap low denomination ones you can

pick up in the bargain bins of coin stores for 10-25 cents? Amazing.

Remind me never to buy coins on EBay then! A few idiots with

no sense of what something as worth can really distort the

market! (for a while at least...)

(Wondering if I should start selling some of my junk coins--probably

too late to jump on the bandwagon now...)

Yep, those are the ones. The 1,5, 10 Pfennig black zinc coins with swastikas. There was like a billion of them minted (they are the ET of the coin world). For like a year I picked them out of the junk bins, then I asked a dealer if he had any he'd like to get rid of, and he came out with two BOXES of them from the back and said $15 for both boxes. There was like 175 coins. I think the highest amount I got for three coins was something like $38. I figure I made over $1000 on them, and I pieced them out over like a year and a half. They still sell, too. I found about 10 in a box the other day that I never sold and I put them up in two lots and got like $16 for all of em. They've come down in price, but as long as you group 4 or 5 together they bring a lot more than what they are worth to a coin dealer/collector.

Cheers,

Tad

Cool! I'm a long time bargain-bin addict for coin stores. Anything

weird or new to me I have trouble passing up for 25 cents or

less. If I weren't so lazy (busy?) I could make some sets and

collect a little extra cash.
