Find scanned instructions here.

http://www.intellivisionbrasil.com.br/Jogos_AutoRacing.htm

This site has the g5 revision of the instructions.  The original version with no g revision refers to the original cartridge rom before it was fixed.  The text instructions that Jacob linked covers both.  Those early cartridges are rare but they're out there so watch out for them.

Guess it's finally time for me to sort out an emulator option that will support 16-position disc with a Flashback controller since Nostalgia 5.1 doesn't seem to, unless I'm missing something.

What do you recommend, and if the answer is Jzintv, can you please point me to a configuration guide or front end that makes sense?  The manual configuration of it has thus far been more complex than I want to spend the time messing with.

Biff it depends on how you want to drive the car... the inbetween positions are just to ease the car thru a curve slower than the hard left/right options, with your Tokyo Drifting via the bottom of the disc. :) In anything, plan ahead, and less is usually more :)

Any questions, just ask nice to be back :)

Thanks, and yes I'm good with the basic controls, just finding I don't have as fine of control as I remember BITD, and was thinking that was the result of not having those extra positions.  Could also be I just suck after not playing for 30 years.  ?

Nostalgia definitely takes whatever analog controller you have and automatically maps sixteen directions for the emulator.  If it's not working in Nostalgia it won't work in other emulators.  What usb adapter are you using?  Windows has a game controller tester to verify controller functions.

I'm using an Intellivision Flashback controller with the Vision Dapter and am only getting 8 directions in Nostalgia 5.0.  I do get 16 directions in Windows controller properties.

All you can do in nostalgia is go in to "input options" and down at the bottom make sure the correct game controller is selected.

Try mameui64.  http://www.mameui.info

Rename grom file to ro-3-9503-003.u21 and place it and exec.bin in an "intv" folder under the mame roms folder.

-----------

I've been trying the blue car because it's the fastest.  But haven't come close to my red car time.

BiffMan also make sure you have a controller that can handle 16 directions, as for example the traditional D-Pads normally can do only 8 :(

I'm using an Intellivision Flashback controller, plugged in via the Vision Dapter, the disc reads 16 directions fine in Windows controller properties, I apparently just need to try an emulator other than Nostalgia, unless there is some trick to getting Nostalgia to use all 16 directions of the Flashback controller.

It's definitely the trickiest to drive because you have to turn very early and/or use brakes quite a bit.  I don't think it's faster on every course, but definitely faster on track 1.

Not to mention a whole heck of a lot more fun/frustrating to drive!  Woo!!  ;-)

Definitely more skill involved driving the fast blue and tan cars.
