Magmavision2000 #1 Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) Some video game music is supposed to be scary while some are absolutely terrifying even though it wasn't supposed to be scary in the first place, take the song of healing for example It gives me a feeling of despair and anxiety. I don't know if that's what they were going for, but why would you make a song that heals souls intentionally unnerving? Here's one that's definitely unintentionally scary I doubt the composers we're trying to make a panic-inducing song. What are some video game songs you've heard that are unintentionally scary? I came here specifically to mention this. Only within the past year has it become more of an annoyance and not terror when I hear it.
BassGuitari #3 Posted April 18, 2020 Although not scary, I was surprised to fire up BMX Airmaster for Atari 2600 for the first time and be greeted with an unexpectedly dour title dirge. 🤣
Ramses #4 Posted April 20, 2020 (edited) I don't know about scary, but the Tarantella Napoletana song that plays in Mangia' is kind of unsettling. It's partly because of the premise though, and they fact that it plays right after the kid's stomach explodes. Edited April 20, 2020 by Ramses
imstarryeyed #5 Posted April 22, 2020 (edited) OK since the topic was brought up.. the sound track to Vib Ribbon for the PlayStation is nothing short of freaky.. It is supposed to be a cheery song with children... but to me it just is a weird and creepy song. Its not bad though.. Ok just listen... I cued it up to the first song.. listen for a few minutes and you will catch my drift. This was honestly not supposed to be creepy but I think it missed the mark on that, but hey everyone's mileage may vary. roots.genoa #6 Posted April 22, 2020 I think it happened me once in Endless Ocean (the second one I think), in the shark zone but it only plays when you get back from the abyssal zone. It's not really unintentionally scary, but it's very unexpected from this kind of very 'zen' game to surprise the player with that kind of music. It really sounds as if something followed you leaving the abyssal zone... 😅
