What Is Your Moral Stance On Console Modding?

Recommended Posts

I was never into modding a current console, as you often lose functionality by doing so.  Doing so on older ones that are no longer sold/supported you're welcome to.  I mean, is there some kind of collectoristic reason that consoles cannot be touched/changed in any way?  IDK, it's not a 1963 Corvette Stingray we're talking about here.  I mean, maybe if it's super rare hardware, but even then I don't have a problem with fixing them.  Games and game systems are meant to be played.  I have boxes for most of my systems anyway, which are stored away, and contain an unaltered console, if you will.  I would say that of the console platforms I have, most of them have been upgraded in some fashion.  I've done soft and hard mods to crack them, add HDD's.  In some cases I've replaced the drives with ODE's.  Some RGB and AV mods, cap replacements, screen mods, you name it.
