FS: Amiga 500 Rev 6A PAL, 1MB Chip, Internal Gotek, SCART RGB, box, manuals, more! **SOLD**

Recommended Posts

I have decided to part with my beloved Amiga 500. A lot of work went into this machine. When I received it initially it was a completely stock NTSC unit. I converted the unit to PAL (as most games and demos are for PAL machines), added a nice third party low profile 512MB ram expansion with CR2032 clock battery and modified the unit to read that ram as additional CHIP memory....so 1MB of CHIP total. I checked all of the caps and all were actually fine, but the two largest caps by the power connector didn't look great (see pic, old blue ones) so I replaced them with very high quality Panasonic caps (see other pic, black caps). The floppy drive in the machine wasn't working so great so it was removed and I had a custom 3D printed housing that properly fits in the floppy area of the Amiga made, and added a Gotek (and flashed it with the FlashFloppy firmware) and also added an OLED display that displays the game names, track info, firmware version, etc. It is REALLY nice.

The computer is 100% perfectly functioning...just like a new Amiga. The bottom half is slightly yellowed, but the top half and keyboard are perfect. Everything works just like a new Amiga 500. The board is a REV 6A...the best ECS board revision in my opinion. Again, it was converted for PAL, so you will need some way to connect it to your display. The RGB SCART cable is the best quality I could find for the Amiga, and it is fantastic. I was using this with an OSSC, so if you have one of those you will have no issues. If not, a good old Commodore Amiga monitor will of course work perfectly. And, if you really wanted to, you can either convert this back to NTSC (I would not recommend this) or add a switch. I didn't add a switch because I did not want to damage this case, but if you need to it is easy to do and I can provide instructions.

The slim metal Sandisk 64GB USB is prepared for you already and ready to go with the flashfloppy software. Just plug it in and turn it on!

This set comes with the following:

Amiga 500 computer with integrated Gotek & 64GB Sandisk USB pre-configured

512GB ram expansion with clock in trapdoor

Original mouse (yellowed and dirty, but it works)

Amiga mouse adapter (use any PS2 or USB mouse with PS2 protocol....I used a logitech laser mouse with this previously..works great!)

Original power supply

A520 Video adapter (NTSC version so probably will not work in the now PAL Amiga, but included anyway)

Manuals, registration card, box, original floppy disks (although you will not need them nor can use them), foam inserts

RGB to SCART cable - High Quality with stereo connections

I am looking for $300 for this plus shipping (USA ONLY!). Figure shipping to be anywhere from $50-$75 depending on how close (or far) you are from the east coast. PM if interested.

That's a great price for such a heavily moddel CIB A500!(but still way more than I can afford)

You said you modded it to be a PAL system; by that do you mean you figured out a way to make it run PAL games and output NTSC or you just completely swapped the motherboard to be a fully PAL system that outputs PAL?

The REV 6A motherboard has a jumper next to the FAT Agnus chip (JP4). Connect it and it is NTSC, separate it and it is PAL. You can bring it right back to NTSC by reconnecting (blob of solder) JP4. But better would be to add a switch to the two pads. I have done that in the past, but again I didn't want to drill any holes for the switch, that and the Amiga is "happier" as a PAL machine. NTSC runs very little correctly on the Amiga...as almost everything was from PAL territories.

Older Amiga's are troublesome (older revision boards). Rev 5 boards had the ability but you needed to swap the Agnus. Earlier versions did not IIRC. It's been so long. But yeah, the Rev 6A board made it really easy.

As for the price, yeah, not looking to make anything from this. What I am asking is a bit less than what I actually spent money wise...not to mention the amount of time invested.

You can grab a garbage untested A500 on ebay and wish for the best, or this that you know will work the way you expect it to ;)

I don't have $300 to spent atm but I really wish I did 🙂

Hope you find a good buyer and the A500 finds a nice new home!

I also would like to add that I would be willing to trade for Atari Jaguar games as well. I recently purchased a Jaguar console (again) and will probably end up using the funds for this to buy games anyway. I already have a few games (and some coming), so if you have a list of games you are willing to part with and want this Amiga set maybe we can make a deal :)
