What type of programs??

Individual? Disk images? Compressed?

What type of hardware do you have? PC?

What type of connection from the PC to the 64? X1541??

I think once you have the proper equipment/cable(s) it's not too bad, but if not, it's not actually that easy if you're just starting out...

There are generally two ways of getting the PC to emulate older systems' hardware...connecting a cable from the PC to the computer, or using the PC with a real C64 drive to create actual floppies that the C64 can read. I recommend that you check out Lemon64's forums to step you through those. Here's a thread pertaining to this question for example...be sure to follow the links.

Check here for lots of information on the X1541 cables. They're pretty much the only real way of transferring files to/from C64 disks. They're fairly easy to make, but they also sell them somewhere at that site as well.

There's no way to read/write C64 disks without extra hardware.
