FS: Excellent condition PAL C64C Computer with a vartiety of upgrades ***SOLD!!***

Recommended Posts

One more on the chopping block. This time around it is an excellent condition PAL C64C computer. With this you can experience many of the games and demos the way they were intended. I was really amazed looking at the demos that came out of europe that would not run on my NTSC C64, and was happy to finally play Commando without glitching!

The computer has had a lot of work put into it. As PAL C64's are extremely hard (if not impossible) to come by easily here in the USA, I first sourced a C64 PAL motherboard only. It had some issues (a broken trace, some loose connections) so I sent it out to the famous Ray Carlsen to overhaul. He made it like brand new again, ran all of his diagnostic tests, and put the Ray stamp of approval on it.

Next, to keep with consistency of this being a PAL unit, I sourced a really clean PAL shell and keyboard from Hungary that took a very long time to arrive. I also outfitted the motherboard with the excellent PLAnkton modern replacement PLA as well as the awesome ARMSID modern replacement SID chip that can "be" a 6581 or 8580 and can be upgraded via C64 software right from the machine.

Then I ordered an adapter that plugs into the A/V port and allows outputting of l/r audio and S-Video. And I also added a C64 Ultimate II Plus cartridge and tape cassette adapter which allows anything to be played on this...cart and disk images, tape images, etc. A 16GB low profile USB flash drive is included already prepared.

I also had Ray build me the cutest little metal box power supply with voltage protection. And, I sourced two excellent condition Epyx 500XJ controllers.

So, yeah, a lot of time/effort/work and MONEY has gone into this....more than I want to talk about ;)

That said, I am offering the entire bundle for $350 plus shipping.....which is still less than I paid. Please keep in mind that this is a PAL computer and you will need a way to connect it to your NTSC display without it coming out in black and white. There are many ways to do this. If you have a RetroTink2X you are set as it works fine to get this to an HDMI TV in full color. You can also connect it with a Koryuu and an OSSC (the way I am doing it now) and that equally looks fantastic. If you have an old school Commodore monitor you are set as well as they allow PAL modes. Or, you can pick up one of those cheap PAL to HDMI Amazon boxes although the quality of those are not so hot.

Anyway, if you are interested PM me! I promise you will not be disappointed with this set!
