weird California Games cart

my copy of california games is a 

standard copy, except for the BMX stage. There is no collision detection, sometimes the screen just shows random patterens, many graphical glitices occur and sometimes the score will mess up, causing me to get insane amounts of points. the cartridge has been cleaned to try to solve the problem, but it didn't work. All other stages work fine. Any advice?

Could be a bad trace on the cart, or just a bad ic. If you don't mind opening it, you can do load test on the individual traces, a bit of solder can fix it that's the issue. If it's the Rom itself, not much to do about that, use the cart as a donner for a working but bad looking game. You could even get California games to put in it, from a cart that's toasty, but the games fine, or have one made.

I used to have a 7800 Galaga cart that played completely normally until the first bonus stage.   The stage would start, with twinkling playfield and ability to control my ship, but the enemy would never show up.  So random!
