What cable is this ???

Recommended Posts

I see something that looks like a D-sub 9 (Female!) to USB (male!), with what appears to be a PS/2 keyboard (or mouse) power tap.

I do not fully grasp the purpose.  Since that is USB Male, I would suggest popping it into a modern PC, and grabbing the USB vendor ID string for identification.

Thought occurs to me:

Possibly light-pen/gun interface??  (assuming that is an S-video signal out, it could mux a special scanline signal into the component video stream with another component, then use either the DB9 or USB interface to capture data with?)

Grasping at straws there.  Really, just pull the vendor ID from plugging the USB end into something.

Unless the USB is just for power.  How many pins are in the mini-DIN?  This might be a USB RS-232 interface for specialized devices (like Cisco, TrippLite, etc.)
