Cap5750
Does anyone have a good source in the US for replacement chips (CIA, SID, ram) for the C64 that don't price gouge? I currently have three boards all three showing bad CIAs and SIDs. I potentially have a ram issue on at least one of them too. Thanks! DistantStar001
Try polyplay.xyz CIA was about 20 something Euro, SID 35, and the RAM was around 1.30 (but 4164s can be gotten anywhere, and probably for less). Sorry if the prices aren't exact, but they tend to fluctuate over the day. However, if you lock it in your basket they will honor the price when you added it. They also carry SID alternatives (SwinSIDs) for less.
carlsson
On the topic of SwinSID, note there is a distinct difference between the cheaper Nano (based on open source stuff) and the full price Ultimate (closed source). Then there are things like ARMSID etc.

I've held off on them because they don't offer full paddle and mouse support (not that I have a mouse). Do any of the alternatives offer that kind of peripheral support? carlsson
PolyPlay have both, but the Ultimate is out of stock. https://www.polyplay.xyz/nano-SwinSID-b_1 (18 Euros) https://www.polyplay.xyz/SwinSID-Ultimate_1 (39 Euros) PolyPlay also sells geneine SIDs for 39-42 Euros each. Retrocomp.cz (Czechia) sells the ARMSID: https://retrocomp.cz/produkt?id=2 (27 Euros) ARMSID information including analog devices: http://dzi.n.cz/8bit/armsid/index_en.php Here is an audio comparison: http://kompjut0r.blogspot.com/2018/04/sid-8580-vs-armsid-vs-swinsid-ultimate_12.html I suppose in the choice between a SwinSID Nano and an ARMSID, an extra 9 Euros for a much better device is a no brainer. Perhaps a real SID is most preferred anyway, depending on for how little you can find one.
