Nintendo Penguin #1 Posted July 23, 2003 I keep finding conflicting information.. is NASCAR Thunder 2004 coming out for the Cube? Some places say yes and others say no. Considering that EA just bought up all the rights to produce NASCAR title exclusively, that would be pretty stupid not to make it for all consoles. bigferret #2 Posted July 23, 2003 I'm pretty sure it will be out for Gamecube, but if it isn't, I wouldn't be surprised: There are at least 52 Million PS2s, 11.5 Million Xboxs and roughly 9.5 Gamecubes on the planet right now. If you were a publisher and had to pick who to exclude, who would you pick? And BTW, I own all of the above, so I don't have a particular bias towards any one console....... Bottom line is that the PS2 is the machine to beat at the moment and given the overwhelming lead in marketshare, I would not be surprised if the Gamecube gets left out..... Bummer, I admit, cause the Gamecube is a great machine. But that doesn't change the reality of the situation.
NovaXpress #3 Posted July 23, 2003 Gamecube has been a disaster for publishers. Activision and Acclaim are pulling out and I heard EA might be as well. The only GC games that really sell are Nintendo's own signature titles. XBox players happen to buy more games tha GC players so they're doing somewhat better. JerseyDevil #4 Posted July 23, 2003 Did you check EA's website?
Nintendo Penguin #5 Posted July 23, 2003 Well, I can' argue with the numbers, but on the business channel (CNBC) they had an analyst on explaining how it wasn't really profitable to make games for one console over another... it simply makes more money for developers to put out a big title like NASCAR for every system. I would be very surprised if activision pulls out, but acclaim does not surprise me... they are going down the shitter anyway. EA recently stated that they are commited to producing GameCube games, especially sports titles that take advantage of GBA - GC connectivity. What really pisses me off is that EA went and bought the rights from NASCAR to exclusively publish NASCAR titles... meaning the great PC NASCAR games from Sierra will be no more. I did check the EA site... I believe the NASCAR '04 info is out of date. Surprisingly, they say it will be released for PS1??!? Why PS1 and not the Cube?!?! That doesn't seem possible. Starscream #6 Posted July 23, 2003 Ea is pretty much in Sony's pocket now. They have eliminated ALL Xbox live games they were involved in, including their sports titles(which will be on the XB, but not online) and have snubbed the GC as well. Thing is, I never really cared for many of their games so for me, no big loss.
liquid_sky #7 Posted July 23, 2003 its all about segas sports games.. outpacing the EA games in all categories if you ask me.. the MS sports games are a 3rd.. but id rahter have 3 good football games than the glut of crappy ones on snes (anyone remember "quarterback club?" )

Why should publishers put out these games on the cube, only to have them sit on the shelves? Hopefully Nintendo is going to helping out 3rd party more, bc its pathetic right now. Capcom is still keeping the cube going though, Killer 7 and Viewtiful Joe seem to be great titles.....but overall the cube is dying..albeit slowly. Activision and Acclaim should learn to make some more quality games, but I recently read that EA was going to start developing more titles for Cube, with Connectivity in mind (Sports titles and such)....Im more than positive it will be a cube title... chrisbid #13 Posted July 24, 2003 the sad part is that most people would agree that the cube is light years ahead of the N64. If im not mistaken, arent there already more cube games than N64 games?
Nintendo Penguin #14 Posted July 24, 2003 There are more Cube Games than N64 games. I love Sega Sports Games. I don't really have a soft spot for EA or anything... it is just that EA made a deal with NASCAR to be the only producers of NASCAR Games, andnow they are not going to be making one... that just rubs me the wrong way. King Atari #16 Posted July 24, 2003 And BTW, I own all of the above, so I don't have a particular bias towards any one console....... That's my solution. Each system has it's strengths and weaknesses. All I need is the Xbox to complete the set.
