Well, there are certainly better players than me(I have friends who can max this, essentially death-free, with the sound turned off...Sheesh...), but I do know how to break this game down pretty well(not a lot to it, really), so here goes...

There's no "freestyle" when you play this game to max it, there is a "method" that kinda needs to be followed, or you won't likely reach Amazing(Max Score).

Stay towards the top, and head to the right. Jump OVER the seaweed as it approaches-basically, listen to the tones, you'll jump just as one(tone) fades away.

As the game reaches mid-point, you'll almost need to listen for the beeps to know when to jump-you can pretty much get it visually the first 100k, and it is so fast that you are almost jumping all the time in the last 100k, so mid-game is when you really need to rely on the beeps.

Try to hit the arrows heading right, and try to trick the octopus into hitting the ones going left.

If you have a nice lead on the octopus, when it changes colors, stop jumping the seaweed and just let it bump you, and watch for the seagull, jump up and grab it and change directions in the air, chasing the Octopus back to the left.

That's it. Head right, jump the seaweed, be ready for the Seagull when the Octopus and seaweed change color, snag it, and nail the Octopus.

By keeping it to one "plan", you will get farther and farther as you keep playing, and eventually this one "clicks" for most people.

Have Fun, Good Luck, I have no idea what I am going to do with myself this week now...

:(

(Teasing).

After taking the screenshot for my 5 lives, I accidentally hit Escape! D'OH!

Consider this both my bonus and my first score if possible?

Use OBS(or whatever) to record the gameplay, make sure to hang a bit at a pause screen, then capture the pic later from the video?

:D

Amazing!  Also, 9 lives for the bonus.  I've found, after playing the super speed, going back to the slow levels is actually quite difficult.

Oh, haha-I embarassed myself, trying to remind my Son how to play(I had shown him before), and I swear, I blamed it on being used to the speed of the faster levels!!!

How the merciful hell are you guys so good at video games? Did you take a class in it or something? I've owned this game for 35 years and thought I was decent at it. Got a 40,000-plus score first try and came here to see if it was even worth posting. Guess not.

I had excellent teachers/mentors, many of whom play in the HSC!!!

I promise, just a "regular Guy" here, tho I view them as Geniuses.

Seriously, read how I described to play, and look up someone doing it online, it will help!!!

Good Luck!!!

On the faster levels, I count how many of the arrow things go across the screen.  There are 14 of them before the seagull comes out.  Then it's just timing the jump.  Another way to tell when the seagull comes out is the squid will change color.  Once he does, the seagull is going to come out.
