LinkoVitch #1 Posted July 23, 2003 I have no details on the game, just that the game over sample was ripped from Aliens where Hudson says "Game over man, game over". Anyone shed some light on this?

No other info? What kind of game, if it was commercial. shareware, etc.?
krupkaj #3 Posted July 23, 2003 I am not sure, but I think that this is in Test Drive but I do not know which one.
LinkoVitch #4 Posted July 23, 2003 Sorry but that is all the info I have.. (it's slowly destroying a friends brain as he tries to remember it! ).. he thinks it is most likley not a major release.
Bryan #5 Posted July 23, 2003 I remember there being an obscure game that said that, but I can't remember what it was either. My friends and I used to mimic it at the end of a game. Google turned up nothing. -Bry

Aargh, now it's destroying my brain because I seem to remember such a game as well!
Maarten Martens #7 Posted July 24, 2003 Well, I don't know if I ever played it on the ST, but since you mentioned this, I rember the sample from an alien WAD I downloaded for DOOM in the first half of the 90s. Everytime you shot a zombie marine he screamed the "game over" line ... But I don't think that is what you're looking for, he ... ... I do think I also heard it on my ST way back ... But I can't remember for the love of God what it was ... Greetz,
Nukey Shay #8 Posted July 24, 2003 Anybody search magazine archives? Might be some mention of it in a review. Regardless...it was a pretty popular quote. Could be in almost anything AFAIK
lais #9 Posted July 24, 2003 I've been thinking some more now, could it have been a Jeff Minter game?
Han #10 Posted July 25, 2003 I remember a game where one flew a jetfighter and shot down other jetfighters. It had crummy graphics and boring game play… It existed, as far as I can remember anyway, in two versions. One of them had samples from Aliens, which was the only good thing about the game. It's the only reason I remember it, but I can’t quite come up with the name... hmmm... was it “Wing” something...
Han #11 Posted July 26, 2003 This morning I finally came up with the name: Screaming Wings! Was starting to bug me too ... http://www.atari.st/view.php?id=1471 Was this the game you where thinking of LinkoVitch?

Never played the ST version of Screaming Wings, though had it on my 800XL, so I don't think it was this game, I'm pretty sure it was a shareware or PD game but still can't remember... Ayreon #14 Posted July 26, 2003 yep.. but it was too easy really and started to be repeative quite fast. It was made by Red Rat software. Wasn't a bad game though. Never played the ST version myself, but it looks very different. The 8-bit version was WW2 stuff like 1940/1941 No jets or anything. One of the planes used actually always reminded me of a Budha instead of a plane
Maarten Martens #15 Posted July 27, 2003 Never really liked it myself ... I thought flying shark was more fun
LinkoVitch #16 Posted July 28, 2003 It would seem that this is indeed the game he was thinking of, although he remembers it as being better I explained to him that way back when it probably seemed a lot better to him then it does today. Thanks for your help. I knew if anyone knew it would be someone on this board
Han #17 Posted July 28, 2003 Yeah the game is utterly miserable... It was among the first games I had, so I really gave it a chance .. But no matter how much you play it, it still sucks...
