DistantStar001
So I've been working on one of my spare C64 boards (250425) just to see if I could get it to work and ran into a bit of an impasse. There was no video. Not a black screen, just no video signal at all. After some work, and replacing the fuse, I finally grabbed my only working C64 with this revision board, and swapped the 7701 clock generator. Tuns out it's dead. I've since gone looking for a replacement, but all I'm finding are the 8701s sourced from PAL machines, not the 7701s that both my NTSC boards have (well, one has and the other had). So my question is can I substitute the 8701, and does it matter if the chip came from a PAL vs NTSC machine?
DistantStar001
If anyone is curious, I asked this in Lemon64 as well and was told that the chips are interchangeable between each-other and between PAL and NTSC boards.
