Really nicely done!  I got to level 25.  I really appreciated the music tracks that was from Catrap, since I remember playing this game long time ago on the brick Gameboy.

Alternative Imagic cover.

(It's a tongue in cheek joke about Imagic covers... It won't be a offerered cover... even if the grey is a Panatone Metalic ink...)

Minor Update

If you run Pitkat on Stella (on emulation or Retron 77) and for some odd reason you want to run the PAL60 version rather then the NTSC version (or PAL one) then you need to set TV Format to PAL60. You can do this by highlighting the game, selecting options, going to game properties and changing TV Format.

Running the PAL60 version with TV Format set to Auto Detect will make Stella detect the game as NTSC. As the game wants to display the PAL colours, the colours will be off although still playable.

The PAL60 version was made primarially for PAL consoles that would be running Harmony, Pluscart or even a real cartridge.

 Just name the ROM accordingly and Stella will be able to automatically use the correct TV format. The ROM name must contain something like "PAL60", "PAL-60", "PAL_60" or "PAL 60".

I'll just be quick and say this is probably one of the best puzzle games I've played in a long time. Thank you for a fun experience. I made it up to Round 15 if I can recall correctly.

It should run... it uses the same bankswitching scheme as M-Network's Burgertime.

Maybe the Harmony Encore isn't detecting the bankswitching scheme properly.  After unzipping, you could try renaming the file extension from .bin to .e7 and see if that helps.

Another difference is that PitKat uses the 1k RAM blocks (f000 to f7fff) in addition to the 256byte blocks. Burgertime only uses the first 256byte block as far as I can tell. Maybe it's something to do with that? I've no idea but it's a difference.

correction: the game works on harmony encore and harmony in bin or e7.

The problem is due with the ZeroPage Homebrew link: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AHMMWfIJIbxAm%5Fw&id=EBF48A1964E7EEB5%211294&cid=EBF48A1964E7EEB5

Hi @chavert! I just downloaded the game (NTSC version) through the link, loaded it onto my Harmony Encore cart and it played successfully on my console. We also streamed the same version of the game on the show last night and it played fine as well. I also just tried the PAL and PAL60 versions through Stella and both of them loaded and played correctly.

The copies of the .bin files through the link were also used by the Nomination Committee for evaluation for the event without any issues. Can you specify how exactly the binary is failing and what you're using to run it? I want to make sure that there isn't a problem with the files.

Hi @chavert

It will be interesting to hear what the final verdict is. 2 users have reported in that past that Pitkat works for several minutes of play and then is unable to load again from Harmony until the system has cooled down. This could be what you are experiencing.

Regards,

Marco
