jmos1277
I came across this cassette-based program called Crystals from Dynacomp. I don't currently have a program recorder and can't seem to find anything about it online. The only info I found was a page on atarimania that listed the rarity rating of this cassette as a 10/10 ... so I guess it's pretty rare. Is anyone familiar with this? Thanks
griff3125
The only thing I could find is that it's some sort of pattern generator, short of that, no screenshots or videos. Given it's rarity, it might be very worthwhile to send it to someone, and get it transferred to a file.
gilsaluki
I love Dynacomp stuff. It gave many programmers a way to market their efforts. I got a grab-bag of Dynacomp programs (20 disks) from them when they were closing out their Atari stuff. Never heard of them before that. Some programs were good, Diggerbonk, some were just okay. Still I appreciate them carrying the stuff. On the instructions is it proper to say, "Insure" or "Ensure"?

I think both are acceptable in this case. Although, I do prefer "ensure".
gilsaluki
Don't you Insure your car or your house? You ensure you push the OPTION button while loading. Maybe both are correct. Anyway, it's great to see Dynacomp stuff in the wild.
_The Doctor__
The tape definitely needs extra special handling care and preservation... no magnets cell phones speakers of any kind... most electronics are not magnetic media safe these days... It has been well cared for up to this point. However, I don't have the means to preserve the data. I'm selling some other Atari cassettes and random gear on eBay. Maybe I'll post this and pass it on to a collector who can preserve it.

That would be great. Although the program is available, it hasn't been archived in its original format: http://www.atarimania.com/demo-atari-400-800-xl-xe-crystals_27840.html Edited July 14, 2020 by www.atarimania.com Didn't add hyperlink

There is a marketplace here on AA or you could go to the preservation thread and site... http://a8preservation.com/#/home https://atariage.com/forums/forum/197-marketplace/ Edited July 15, 2020 by _The Doctor__
+Larry
Nice! Comes alive under Turbo Basic. Fast, but not too fast to be enjoyable. I've seen some programs similar to this that were in Compute! in the early 80's.
