I can never remember...what does darrell do when he's not working magic on the atari?  he's in the aerospace industry?  Does he (or has he) worked with 6502/6507 for work?

The tutorials are both incredibly helpful and also incredibly generous uses of his time.  Does he also teach on the side?

If he did not have an electric car, would he rather have an old classic or a new supercar?

  • Did you have (access to) an Atari as a kid? If yes, which games did you play most?
  • Why did you chose the 2600 as programming platform?
  • When did you start doing assembler and for which CPU? If not 650x, when did you start with this one?
  • Are you interested into doing small games too? E.g. 4K?
  • In your programming history, what was your best moment? (game, programming trick, bug fix, whatever)
  • Besides Kaboom!, have you ever done any hacks before?
  • What are your favorite classic Atari 2600 games?
  • What are your hobbies besides Atari/programming?

  • 3 weeks later...

Does it take a rocket scientist to use CDFJ, or will mere mortals be able to use it to create Atari VCS games?

You said in a previous interview that Medieval Mayhem was your first VCS homebrew. Had you created games on other systems or hacked/ported games previously?

What is your background in programming? (Did you start long ago with Basic on any old 8-bit micros, or go straight into 6502 assembly?

What is the next big game you are working on?

You previously mentioned converting some of your older games from DPC+ to CDFJ. Are those games on Melody boards, and if so. does Albert do free updates? (Minus buyer pays the shipping?)

Are you doing any more presentations (maybe not with Covid-19), and will you be updating your presentation for making Atari games with the Collect 3 tutorial. Do you think new developers should start with assembly and Collect 2K, or CDFJ/C++ and Collect 3?
