Skippy B. Coyote
Hey there folks! Basically, I'm looking for someone who does quality work to build me a full size Ms. Pac-Man machine with all new materials, a multicade control panel (with the control panel artwork pictured below), a leaf switch joystick, 3 buttons and a trackball, and an iCade 60-in-1 JAMMA board inside on a budget of about $2,000 or less. Something, well, just like this! Those pictures are of the Ms. Pac-Man multicades from Chattanooga Pinball, which look like just what I'm looking for aside from the color of the side and front panel artwork seeming a little off, but it's close enough that I'd be content with it. Unfortunately though, after doing a quick search around online for reviews of Chattanooga Pinball, I'm getting the impression that they may be a bit of a sketchy company. There seems to be quite a few negative reviews of them out there, and the fact that they haven't replied to the email I sent them with a few questions about the joystick on their cabinet earlier in the week doesn't exactly inspire me to want to hand them $2,000 either. So, my question is if anyone knows a reliable cabinet builder with good reviews who could build me the Ms. Pac-Man multicade that I'm looking for? Edited July 18, 2020 by Skippy B. Hydro Thunder
Couple of suggestions that may or well may not meet what you're after... https://www.etsy.com/listing/784698847/2-player-slim-arcade-machine-cabinet?ref=shop_home_feat_4 https://www.etsy.com/listing/826958877/custom-wrap-for-slim-arcade-retro-slim?ref=pla_similar_listings_top_ad-4&plkey=ff3e1ba4595d9adbb28372a4598bbea3fc71ab65%3A826958877 I have this guy's slim arcade machine, it runs $900 plus $400 to ship fully assembled by private carrier. It's a good machine, powered by a Raspberry Pi. He can make them with light guns and a track ball if you wish. The link is for the "Wrap" and as you can see he's got a pretty good Ms Pac Wrap. Wrap is $250, bringing you to about $1650 total without trackball or lightguns. It's a neat setup. Another great call IMO would be to get one of the flat-packed RecRoom Masters or 32" Xtension Cabinets ($1000), and have them do custom art for you ($150 extra). You'll have to assemble it (equivalent to Ikea, pretty much doable by anyone, even me! ), have to buy your own monitor (good 32" run really cheap these days, $200 tops IIRC), and get your own Raspberry Pi or PC to power it. But those can be had reasonably cheaply too, depending on how high end you want to go for games. So total on this would come to approx $2000 with a good PC build that cost $650. Or around $1450 if you went with a pre-built Raspberry Pi from someone. https://www.recroommasters.com/32-Pro-Upright-Xtension-Arcade-Cabinet-Emulator-p/rm-xt-32-pro-ee.htm https://www.pngfind.com/mpng/hbhxRih_custom-ms-pac-man-for-xtension-arcade-ms/ If you need recommendations for a nearly plug and play PC build I can recommend a couple of places that I've heard good things about. mr.bill
I would contact arcadeshop. they sell a ready to go cabinet. http://www.arcadeshop.com/i/1050/multicade-upright-cabinet-19-board-ready.htm they also sell a bare wood cabinet. http://www.arcadeshop.com/i/143/new-midway-style-ur-cabinet-19.htm if you have some assembly skills, you can get it cabinet ready. a real pac is stencil painted. a ton of work. your not likely to find someone to do it for you. Chatnooga is selling one with stickers. you can buy the stickers here https://www.phoenixarcade.com/products/ms-pac-man/ms-pac-man-3-piece-decal-set-left-right-and-front if you can find a cabinet locally (pac, ms pac, galaxian) you can buy it, and clean it up, a buy the art kit. Just to let you know there are tricks to putting down full cabinet art. watch youtube videos. Dont mess with galaga cabs they are the right style, but most of those cabs are compressed wood. the other 3 are real wood. plus galaga is the most expensive of the 3. icade is fine, but if you want to go with a better quality product, look at arcadesd https://www.phoenixarcade.com/products/arcadesd/arcadesd-pcb-us-shipping
4300
Personally, I'd pick up a used ms pac, add the aftermarket CP and board of your choice and save 1000 bucks And since the 60 in 1 is a bootleg board, any company that uses it will be sketchy.
