DragonGrafx-16 #2 Posted July 27, 2020 Clickbait... It makes it sound like there's a code to enter to play as Luigi but that is false. It would make more sense if the headline was "Luigi Code Found In Super Mario 64 Beta Rom" as I'm sure this is related to a Beta version which has recently been discovered.
digdugnate #3 Posted July 27, 2020 I'll save you guys a click. "The image you see below was rendered using those assets by an artist named Padabana, showing what a fully-formed Luigi would probably look like in the game." There wasn't a specific code, per se, but it was programming code that MIGHT have allowed for Luigi.
Black_Tiger #4 Posted July 27, 2020 Sounds like only the model of Luigi was found. So it will likely get swapped in for reportedly existing Luigi hacks.
Tanooki #5 Posted July 28, 2020 Part of the source is missing, and that code could be there but it's unlikely. It could have just been injected into the game at some rate when testing things at some point as I think it said it had audio files there too or referenced at least. Maybe there was an intent to choose or 2P early on and dumped due to limits and a rush to finish the already year delayed system.
