Imagic Demon Attack on the XEGS, is it compatible?

Recommended Posts

Does Imagic's Demon Attack cartridge work on the XEGS? I have one and it does not seem to work, it might be the cartridge itself is bad but I'd thought I would check for compatibility before I take the cartridge apart for cleaning.

It's a 400/800 only game. To use it on an XEGS you'll need a translator disk/cart.

Anybody have the translator "cart"? I always wonder whether it interfered with disk based binaries that load into the "cart memory" area, or not.

I am not sure if it is a 400/800 only game.

(Nearly) true for the fileversion, the version floating around needs the translator disk.

But I remeber that i converted it for xl/xe use (was an easy job to do).

Like other 400/800 fileversions of cartridge games demon attack used a copyroutine with a jmp into the old 400/800 rom.

Guess this code was from a cartridge copy program because i found the same code on many other 400/800 only fileversions but who knows?

Do you know if any of these "conversions" are available somewhere on the internet? I was thinking of starting a thread on this, cause alot of the problems were created by direct calls to ROM routines that were moved. Many of which would be easy to correct.

Funny how this never occured to me "back in the day", or maybe it did and I ran into problems. Who knows.

Both the file and cartridge version require a translator or OSB compatible OS.

Ok, my diskdrive is ready to run now.

I found some files but not all on them.

You can download it here: www.atari8bit.de/xl.rar

The ATR contains Demon Attack, Capture the Flag (at least my fileversion needed a translator disk), Robotron (don't know if this was A800 only but was on the same disk) and Gremlins (the sound of my fileversion was horrible without fix/translator).

Maybe i'll find more, wait and see.

Hey thanks for the link...

As far as I know robotron works fine on XE's and Mario Bro's has the same sound "bug" as Gremlins.
