Hi, I wanted to present to you my version of the Atari 7800 SD cartridge.

What you can see in the photos is a prototype version on which I learn how to use. The cartridge will be operated using four buttons and the display, of course, it will be in the housing.

For correct configuration, the cartridge uses .a78 files and the header.

As of today, it supports 4k, 8k, 16k, 32k, 48k files - without banking, 64k, 128k, 256k, 512k with banking. In addition, 16k RAM for $ 4000 and POKEY for $ 4000 and $ 0450. Various combinations are possible. Also supports Absolute and Activision.

Below is some evidence that I am writing the truth:

Rescue on Fractalus, 32k + RAM. Can you confirm that the graphics are displayed correctly? The lower bands are due to the fact that the game is NTSC and I run it in PAL.

Ultimately, the cartridge will also have a USB connector that will allow you to load files directly from a computer. I've already tested it and it worked.

I'll be back from vacation in two weeks, I'll spend a few more days testing with different files and designing the final version. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please write.

And there is also a sticker on the cartridge, designed by a colleague of MotionRide:

Looks like something that really make the 7800 last very much longer as retro-console...

And looks just like you’ve put some hundred hours into this!

And...

Awesome art!

Just love that dragonfly!

Have you looked into approximate prices yet, or too early?

This looks like fantastic progress. As long as you can make it as user friendly as possible, the market for this should be strong, at least until some of the more full-featured variations of such a product become available.

I don't know of any other device that has more features than this? It looks like this thing covers everything and then an LCD screen to boot. What am I missing and which device is going to do the things I'm currently ignorant too? I only know of the Concerto and the SainT SD cartrdiges on the way. I don't think either of those do as much or more than this thing.

Want!!

Does this mean there would not be an on screen menu to select games from directories, etc?

That's right, there is no menu, you select the file on the display and confirm. The game will load and will allow you to turn on the console. When you change the game, the console will turn itself off, load the new file and allow you to turn on the console.

I won't say prices because I don't know, I haven't counted the costs yet, a few things will change yet.

The cartridge will not support HSC.

To hell with HSC. It will not be missed with such a robust offering of other features and abilities. This thing is awesome.

Btw, I trust and recommend you as I have purchased a couple of your Lynx SD carts. Anyone unfamiliar with rj1307 should buy with confidence once this becomes available.?

Fantastic job! Really interesting addition seeing the cart powered and then a through connector to the 7800.

Great time for the 7800 community - devs and gamers alike. Looking forward to your progress.

So I just noticed that the cart is acting as the power passthrough? You have the power plugged into the cart and then an adapter cable to run power back from the cart into the 7800s actual power port? That would explain how you select the program to run on the cart first and then turn on the 7800. Interesting, but not sure how this will work with those that have changed out their power ports on their 7800s to something else. Unless that is another thing the potential buyer will need to address on their own?

Concerto can do all this with an on screen menu with a ton of other features..but still not completely ironed out yet..

This product looks great. I am sure many people will buy all products when available.

Congrats on your achievement!

What is the full list of "other features" please? I've been reminded of the HSC and I think text file support was to be added also but I'm not remembering anything else currently. So many devices doing so many things I can't seem to keep exact track of them all and what the specialties of each are. :)

While on screen menu is nice, this having it's own lcd screen menu is it's own kinda pimpin' too, IMO. This thing is a tank and seems to be very, very close to finished as well. As long as the price point isn't out of this world I can see myself buying one when they are finished and ready for sale.

You would have to ask Batari as it is all mumbo jumbo to me. I just know it will be able to do cool things. Collect em all!

I like this screen cart too and buttons... very rad.

Oh ok, I thought you might have known more specific things that where on that but not this. I have a decent idea what Fred is doing with his concerto but new surprises do pop up from time to time for sure. :)
