Punching is also great for the bonus rounds (I think it's the only way you can destroy the flying swords). It's not as good as the arcade version, but if you think of it as it's own game and not a port, and remember this came out before SMB, it's not terrible. This was my favorite arcade game as a kid and I was excited to try the MSX port in emulation back when emulators were first starting to take off. Needless to say it was a disappointment lol. Strange thing is, no other game (of the dozen or so I tested) seems to have that error.
