graywest
Tried out Beneath the Pyramids this evening: LOOK OUT, IT'S THE MYSTICAL TEMPLE OF HERMAN! Don't touch that ankh or bat droppings will rain from the heavens and injure you. ? It's actually not too bad. The slow movement is a little irritating, but it's a BASIC game. I could get into this.

carlsson
I might need to bring out my 800 or run emulated so I get to play Pyramid Run as well. For that matter I played Lorien's once, posted a score earlier but might play it again to get a proper score though it is just for fun. Hey everyone the "Desert Survival Test" is fun and only takes a few minutes to complete (see graywest's earlier post). My first go was a disaster and despite taking on board ? the information I still ended up Buzard Bait on the 2nd go!! Reading the item descriptions afterwards is informative.
carlsson
King Tut's Tomb - 4774 pts Lorien's Tomb - 12900 pts, reached level 8 I tried King Tut on both my PAL 130XE and my NTSC 800, didn't notice much change in speed with the same settings. Perhaps the display is a bit more shrunken on PAL. I also tried to boot Pyramid Run but it doesn't run on either of my two Atari computers and since I don't really like playing games in emulation, I'll skip that one this time.
+therealbountybob
Had another bash at several of the games, mainly been playing Lost Tomb! graywest
Pyramid: Played a couple dozen hands and finally deduced most of the rules (I think!) I was able to clear one entire pyramid. When you do, the screen flashes for a moment and then all the cards are re-dealt. I'm not entirely sure, but I think the number in the lower right (09 for me) is a running total of scores from the games you win. Here's a pic from my last move: And a pic afterward - note the score(?) in the lower right: Not a bad game if you're in the mood for some Solitaire. Actually, once I figured out what I was doing, it was pretty addictive. It helps to understand the values of the cards: A=1, then 2-10 are face value. (I originally thought the 10 was an 11, but the fat 1 is actually a 0.) Then B=11, D=12, and K=13. Matching cards that total to 13 or 26 (K+K) removes those cards. I think you can only reshuffle the deck if you have matched more cards than you have drawn. If the counter at the upper left is higher than the counter at the upper right, you can't reshuffle and your game is basically over unless you have more moves available elsewhere. You can only match cards that are "free" meaning that they have no card to the lower left or lower right. However, you can select a card (it moves to the upper right holding area) and then match with another card ABOVE that is freed up by your selection. Also, you can match freed cards with either cards from the draw pile, or other freed cards on the pyramid. I didn't realize the latter for many hands. graywest
Curse of the Pharaoh: COMPLETED!! I'm a bit proud of myself with this one because I didn't look up a walkthrough or peek at the code. It's actually pretty straightforward to get through if you're decent at "guess the word". Hardest part to figure out was getting the giant clam open. This game is so primitive and ridiculous that it was actually a little bit great. Why is there a fuse box on the wall in a supposedly ancient Egyptian pyramid? Why is there a giant clam sitting here? No idea. Reminds me of being a kid again and typing in magazine listings - you just never really knew what you were going to get. graywest
Also, I think I've played every single one of the games that are still in the running at this point. It was a good round - some fun, some not so fun. But besides Desert Falcon and Pharaoh's Curse, I think all the games were new to me. Might play some more to improve scores if I have time. We'll see.
