Brian R. #26 Posted July 29, 2003 on the other hand most game collectors tend to live with their parents, more or less rent free, meaning they would have larger disposable incomes to spend on hobbies. Yeah, and I'm a Star Trek fan so I guess I must live in my parent's basement for that reason, too. The generalizations and misstatements in this thread are making me sick. llabnip #27 Posted July 29, 2003 That's great if you're looking for Galaxian or Pac Man or Warlords or Kaboom or Missle Command or Jungle Hunt or Adventure or Space Invaders or more than 100 other great common games. The best part about Atari 2600 is that most of the best games were also the most common. And those 100+ carts are the ones that are dirt cheap to come by on ebay (yes, with shipping that can usually be reduced to nearly a buck a cart when buying a few carts or more). I certianly agree that carts that don't have a lot of sellers puts the buyer at a disadvantage - it's hard to comparison shop shipping prices in that case. But even the harder to find carts can still be had for good prices on ebay given a little hunting time. I recently got a Zeller's Challenge for $7 including shipping ($2 shipping). Like with all things in life, patience and a good habit of searching the new listings periodically helps. Unless I really had to have a game, I don't think I would pay more than about $5 bucks for any cart including shipping (and preferably under $3 per cart including shippnig is very achievable for a huge number of carts). There are just too many opportunities (given enough time to search) for lower prices if I can wait. I keep a list of titles I want to get - and over time slowly acquire them (preferably in batches of 2 or 3 to even further reduce shipping).

BeerGnome #29 Posted July 29, 2003 God... I could have gave you a WarLords! lol yeah.. I should've throw up a query around here when I first set off to acquire this common game... But tiss always the danger of Fleabaying at 3 am after well.. quite a few Barley pops. I have however been having some renewed success with the thrifting. However.. the majority of my collection has come from vintage stores, freinds.. and the prenial dumpster diving the biggest problem I've noticed with the common carts is the horrable states they tend to be in.. I had to completly disect space invaders to get it to work as the caseing had been mutilated.. so I have to play it by just inserting the PCB into the console.. I'm thinking of sacraficing a Pacman cart for the restoration purposes, Donkey kong is just DEAD but the Atari card will not fit inthe coleco case

+Random Terrain #32 Posted July 29, 2003 Wow, CPUWIZ, I think that one is even better, except that you can see the edges of the GIF border as if the puke is hitting an invisible brick wall.
