Can I Reroute the 1200XL Cartridge Slot?

I'm thinking about rerouting the cartridge slot on my 1200XL with a ribbon cable; about 7 inches.  Will this work?

Don't see why it wouldn't, Dropcheck sells a ribbon cable cartridge port extender for the 1088XEL and also a PCB cartridge port extender for the 1200XL.

The 1088XEL version has circuitry to allow a longer cable, a simple cable based extender would be ~12" maximum according to the webpage.

The 1088XEL and XLD's cartridge ports are non-buffered and are the same as a stock A8. However by using Dropcheck's buffered cart extension you can extend it a fairly good distance and still see reliable operation. This would also apply for the 1200XL  .

 

Edit: I don't believe there is a 1088XEL specific version of her cart extender, being universal in nature. However there are two different ribbon cable lengths that are offered via drop down selection on the order page.
