TGB1718
I have a 520STM (had it since new), I did a 512K memory upgrade soon after I bought it by doing the piggy back RAM chip upgrade. It's worked fine until now. When I check the memory after boot it's telling me I have 512K, if I use a RAM disk, again it tells me there's less than 512K available. However, if I load DEBUG.PRG from DEVPAC and scroll through the memory, I can see and change memory above $80000 up to $FFFFF. Obviously it's impossible to change and check every Location by hand and I assume that somewhere these's a flakey chip with some bad cells in it. I wrote a simple C program to insert 1010101010101010 into each location and read back and check it's that value, then write 0101010101010101 to each location and read back and check, this runs fine on locations $80000 to $FFFFF. So what I'm looking for is a good RAM tester I can leave running that will allow testing RAM that the system does not detect. I've had a look at SYSINFO, but all that does is tell you what you already know, there doesn't appear to be anywhere to run tests.
snarkdluG
Try Yet Another Atari RAM Tester (YAART). It is in English despite the site is in German.
