People who knew (and read the sticker on the bottom of the console) knew that the Sears Tele-Games consoles were manufactured by Atari. But unquestionably without a doubt (in my humble opinion) that Tele-Games Heavy Sixer trumped the Atari version. The wood finish was just so much better!

Here's mine:

Freakin' LOVE this thing. It is the star of my entire collection.

I love them both. Don’t ask me to choose.

Sears was still way to ubiquitous and mainstream to have been cool.  I did personally think it looked better as my friend Eli had one, a Video Arcade 6 switcher with a Wico joystick.  Sears made so many branded versions of things, that it seemed very natural at the time that they would have their own version.

The Sears one looks better than I though it would. I prefer its woodgrain but I prefer the black background on the Atari switch panel.

Atari logo wins every time though.

Take the Sears console, add the black switch panel background and the Atari logo. :)

In fall 1977 - 1980 Sears in Chattanooga was the only place that sold the console and games.  I don’t remember any other store with Atari branded games before 1981.

I grew up in Nashville (after Atari’s time) and I love hearing about the retail history of older games and hardware like this. The farthest back I can remember is buying Game Boy games at Best Buy or Toys R Us.
