Requested updates to the Atari Gamer website

Hello! I've had a number of people requesting various updates to the Atari Gamer website (atarigamer.com) so I thought that I'd start a thread about it. If you have any updates or notice any bugs or weird behaviour please post about it here and I'll see what I can do to address it.

Thanks!

The 'Featured' menu item now lists the 'Events' link, which is where you will find programming competition event listings, among other things that I'll be adding as 'events'.

The game info page now shows the play count for a game and if it's part of a ranked event, it shows the place that the entry scored in at.

The game play page also shows the event and scoring place and play count (under the ratings, not shown in this screenshot).

After talking a bit with @Fadest about his Tropsy release, I've decided to add an April Fools' hint under the release date.

Here's my game's (Turkey Puncher 3) info page... https://atarigamer.com/lynx/game/TurkeyPuncher3HyperPunchingAprilFools2019/373540146

It might be a give-away to some people but it feels right to have this hint.

there are somewhere here in the forum.

as there are only around 30 new levels for lemmings, i did not bother to puit them all into one rom yet, thus there are 30 different roms ;-)

for cc i dont actually know. there are hundreds of levels, but not all of them are nice and work on the lynx, as it has some lower limit for enemies etc compared to teh dos version. and some effects are slightly different.

@Igor I found xenophobe unlimited lives and the lemmings thread:

Btw. I realised that the sound issues of the online emulator (that are worse on firefox than on chrome) that we discussed a long time ago are in fact identical to Handy095 sound issues that are fixed in later versions.

Some more updates to the site...

Cookie consent, seems like the right thing to do since it's law in many countries now.

Release date is clearer to read with the month shown as words, not letters.

Request:

You have a prominent article abotu LGSS (https://atarigamer.com/pages/lynx-gaming-sharing-system--lgss-)

I think it would be much more useful to add an article about the loaders which are included in most of the BLL based games. (and beside allow for loading of games over comlynx, even allows for remote debugging, in game screenshots etc.)

Thanks @sage!

I've also made another update (though only tested in macOS Safari so far)...it was a user request to have the emulator be able to pop out into a separate window. So now next to the screen scale options there is a pop out option too. It re-loads the emulator in a new window and if your OS/browser allows that window to go full screen, you can even have full screen Lynx play...

I've made it so if there is an itch.io download link for the game, the 'Download ROM' will use that link instead of the ROM that is stored in the Atari Gamer database. This should (hopefully) drive more people to use itch downloads and maybe will turn into purchases for the devs.

The downloads from itch.io are marked with the itch.io logo...
