MagicMarc-er
I've started typing in some basic programs that I have from the old days and would like to eventually make them available to others. While I love my 1200XL keyboard, there is no way I'm going to do this directly on the Atari. I just typed one in on Altirra as a test run and have some questions about saving. I figured out how to do a File > Save State, and also a File > Save Firmware > Save Cartridge. But I can't figure out how to save the file with a BAS extender. Maybe that's a dumb question, and maybe someone can explain to me why I actually don't want to do that. Any guidance would be appreciated. What would be the best format and procedure for doing this that would also be the most useful to others?
www.atarimania.com
Under BASIC, you can just use the SAVE"H:XXXXXXXX.BAS command. Just make sure you have defined H: as a host device.
Mclaneinc
Or the old way of booting up basic with a DOS disk and doing the same as above but using D1: instead of H : at the Basic prompt.. And then with the Disk Explorer in Tools you could drag off the bas files into a lump and post them..Or just post the ATR file.. Justin Payne
In the instructions it state , " Setting up the host device To set up the host device, open the Devices dialog using the System > Devices... menu option, and add the H: device from the High-level Emulation section of the device list. " ...but do you all see "Devices" under "System"? ? It actually appears in the Configure System... dialog. Seems I might have found a document bug. When you choose the directory, make sure you uncheck, "Read Only". It is set by default.
