EotB looks really interesting! Graphics seem to be more detailed in the version (with game save) that I`ve had for years, so I`m going to have to look at mine in more detail.

And c`mon, now, are you really suggesting that everyone is most looking forward to Rolling Thunder? You know that honour now belongs to Friendly. :P

Oh, yeah.  Yeah. . . . . Yeah.  That one will be . . . awkward.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I have NO idea how I can show that without it getting almost instantly deleted.  I mean the splash screen in just some geometric shapes (arranged to look like a penis), but what happens next is just straight porn with lynx sound effects.  The player controls the "speed."

YouTube over-18 restriction? Porn of the Month club? A freebie with every purchase? A tie-in with Lynx Invades Japan? A disclaimer? "This demonstration is in no way an attempt to recreate an accurate representation of the penis either in size or pixellation. The Lynx's unique scaling features are to be used for entertainment purposes only".

Honestly, now I just want to hear the "Lynx sounds". :)

Really cool stuff!  I too had heard way back (not from any official source) that Ninja Nerd eventually became Fat Bobby.  But from this, they look totally different.  The only similarity I see is that the appearance of one of the alternate characters looks similar to Bobby.  For the creators to scrap the progress they had in Ninja Nerd to work on Fat Bobby instead, it would be like starting over mostly from scratch and making a new game.

It's a little weird that Geoduel uses the sound effects of Warbirds.  Of course the game is far from complete there, so they might have just been placeholders.

Most importantly, if you pause at the bottom edge of Guardians's map screen and turn the Lynx sideways, the mountains become boobs.  Best Lynx game ever!

By far the most important thing I noticed: if you pause at the bottom edge of Guardians's map screen (timestamp 11:20) and turn the Lynx sideways, the mountains become boobs.  Best Lynx game ever!

Wow absolutely legendary stuff. Never thought I'd see some of these in motion.

Somehow it seems familiar to me that Geoduel might have been designed for comlynxing, might be worth giving that a shot in addition to space war.

All of these files are cool beyond belief, and it's simply amazing to see them finally emerge after being lost/hidden for a quarter of a century!

That being said -- and I hate to say this -- I think only about half of them would have ended up being really solid games for the Lynx.

Isn't Cabal just another Operation Wolf clone or playalike? Alien Brigade is just as much fun (and very Atari, if you think of Atari as the John Waters of video games by the '90s), and the Evercade shows it works on a handheld. This would have been fine, but probably not spectacular.

Rolling Thunder (small voice) looks kind of boring.

Ninja Nerd looks forgettable. And I swear that the nerd looks like Chip from Chip's Challenge.

Spacewar has some cool scaling effects...and some very boring gameplay.

Pounce was always a looong way off from being a playable game, and cool graphics aside, I'm meh on the concept.

Fat Bobby is amazingly mediocre as a finished game.

The real heartbreakers here are GeoDuel, Guardians, Vindicators, and Daemon's GateGeoDuel looks like nothing else on the Lynx, and it could have been an amazing ComLynx game. Guardians has the bones of an excellent RPG. Daemon's Gate is a clear example of miscommunication -- we have what, three different builds now? -- and I am not sure why the team(s?) couldn't come up with one solid game combining the best aspects of each version. And Vindicators...I'd love to know exactly why development clearly ended early when Atari seemed to signal that this was a priority release. All the pieces seem to be there. And I know that EotB couldn't be released because of licensing issues...but couldn't they have called it anything else? This would have been a priority purchase for me at the time.

And Loopz proves that the head of the Lynx department was just phoning it in by '93. HOW did this not get released?!! Still one of my top-five games for the Lynx.

Cabal isn't an Operation Wolf clone.  You move a character around the environment on a largely fixed screen, so it's not just shoot-before-they-shoot you.  SNK's Nam '75 added more scrolling environments, but the original game is pretty good.

Rolling Thunder is an amazing game, and would make good use of the Lynx hardware, so I'm curious to learn more about it.

Ah, yes, I took another look at the arcade version of Cabal. I'd like to have seen a little of the gameplay on the Lynx, but it doesn't look like the dev team got far on it at all. Maybe they thought the trackball control wouldn't translate well to d-pad action? It would also probably have worked best as a vertical-oriented game.

Wow! I have been holding out to see something of Rolling Thunder on the Lynx for years, and here it is, a couple of months after the Nintendo leak! Crazy stuff.

Sure some of you are aware, but a recent book release here in the UK - The Games That Weren't by Frank Gasking has the full story on both Rolling Thunder and Vindicators for the Lynx, it's a really excellent read in general, and I am sure everyone on this thread would love those particular stories.

I have sent an email to Frank with a link this thread, in case he was not aware - it's incredible these have finally turned up!

I am just gong to leave this right here:

Vindicators and SpaceWar are ComLynxable!

V: 2 players.  I have not tried more because the coin-op was only two.

S:  So far up to 3.  I need to get more Lynxen.

That is all for now.

It would seem to me, that Friendly would be a great game for networking.  Speed mode, endurance mode, etc.

Not sure what is more exciting. The fact comlynx works or me just discovering they still make Crystal Geyser

seconded, I would definitely love to load these up whether or not they’re free to get!

Should be out soon.  Just working with a designer on labels.  Will 3d print all of the shells this weekend.
