bjonte has just released the teaser trailer for the upcoming C128 game Volley For Two!  See

https://kollektivet.nu/v42/

It has been years since the last C128 game has been released commercially, and it looks as if this one will be distributed on https://itch.io
And it makes use of REU, GeoRAM, or SuperCPU ram for extended playback viewing! :)

The developer now tells me it's going to be free!  He couldn't stand filling out forms for the US Internal Revenue Service!

I wonder if it has something to do with that all three developers are Swedish/Danish, and that business possibly is done according to US tax rules so for foreigners to get payouts from the system, the IRS would be involved in detail. But that is just my guess, I haven't seen exactly how much paperwork is involved.

The game was always meant to be free. I never meant to go public with the itch.io idea.

I investigated itch.io to accept donations. It turned out that I had to register at the IRS to avoid a blanket trade tax of 30%, which would be waste of people’s money. I don’t want to be registered in US at all because of privacy reasons and the direction US seems to be heading with Trump in command. On top of that I was late with the itch.io idea and the IRS takes six weeks to process an application. So even if I wanted, it would have been difficult to pull off.

my browser won't let me load the page

I heard that Bitdefender is classifying the page, that contains no tracking, no cookies, no javascript, just an embedded video, as malware. It must be the video link it chokes on for some reason. You can watch the video by a direct link to it instead.

Perhaps any site these days that has zero tracking cookies and zero scripts running in the background, is considered suspect just due to that?

Haha, interesting idea! I hope it’s not just using AI to look for unusual pages. That would be a complete disaster. The funny thing is that Bitdefender happily accepts the direct link to the video. So the video itself isn’t flagged as problematic.

The IRS is the IRS, irrespective.  So long as this agency exists, citizens will be in fear over their property.
