V.R #2 Posted July 30, 2003 I've never done it myself. I presume however that you would need to make your STe IDE or SCSI compatible. I would suggest IDE as it is simple and most people work with IDE devices as standard these days. There are numerous plans on the net if you search on google. Apart from that you may need a driver so that TOS can recognise the device. I know that Clint Thompson has a CDROm on his Falcon, he should know for sure. lais #3 Posted July 30, 2003 Can anyone advise me what I need to acquire (aside from the drive itself, of course) if I want to equip my STe with an external CD drive? A SCSI host adapter such as the Link 97 (no longer made but you might find one in stock at an Atari dealer), and a driver. Free ones are available, I've only tried MetaDOS and found that to be not very user-friendly. ExtenDOS Gold from Anodyne Software http://www.anodynesoftware.com is a current and supported product, Roger Burrows, the programmer, is a friendly chap and gives excellent customer support. ATAPI drives are a waste of time unless you can find an interface for your ST, though they can be used with machines like the Milan which are PCI-based TOS compatible machines with IDE on-board. Is Milan still making computers? The website hasn't been updated in 2 years.
