+InsaneMultitasker #4 Posted September 29, 2020 Always placed my PEBs in 'standard' orientation. Mostly leave the cover off as it's hard to test/repair/swap cards any other way. I used to place the monitor on top of a closed PEB but found that I prefer having the monitor a bit lower. So when I got my first desk with hutch (the same style many of us seemed to have bought back in the day) it was a perfect arrangement. Heatwave runs on my primary Geneve system in a mid-height ATX case. Cards are horizontal. I've used this configuration for 25+ years, no issues. For personal use, I usually kept the tower on the floor next to the desk for easy disk access.
sparkdrummer #5 Posted September 29, 2020 Main TI is in normal configuration. Second system is in tower configuration. Both have covers on.
+fimbulvetr #6 Posted September 29, 2020 I couldn't put my TI Color Monitor on top of my PEB if I had it in tower configuration or had the top off. Even then, I almost never need to get into the gubbins, so have no reason to leave the top off.
jedimatt42 #7 Posted September 29, 2020 Ever since I had a rave keyboard back in the 80s, I've placed my 4A console on top of the PEB in normal orientation. Use one of those 'foot' extenders to tuck it under and behind.
wierd_w #8 Posted September 30, 2020 I haven't gotten back around to making a replacement top for my PEB yet, so this poll is faulty! Been too busy (earlier in the year) gardening, and now the printer is occupied 24/7 doing speech synth shell prototypes. Thats ok, the lessons I have learned doing the speech shell prototypes has given me new insight into how to make a functional replacement. I am thinking the "Embedded M3 stand-off retainers" idea will work beautifully here too. I just need to get a few projects done first.
GDMike #9 Posted September 30, 2020 (edited) Definitely run mine in "normal" mode closed up. But.. I need a bigger table. Im thinking about just a wooden "break room" type table, like 6'. That way I can write on it I need and place a laptop plus the TI and all equipment, I just never seem to have enough room. How about a "lazy ticart" rotating platter that is about 4' tall for cartridge holder. Yeah, I'll surely get rt on that...hmm Edited September 30, 2020 by GDMike
+OLD CS1 #10 Posted October 1, 2020 My PEB would never run around topless nor make a big deal of its orientation. We got class over here.

wierd_w #14 Posted October 2, 2020 That TI just wants to let you know, that it's always ready to have your hands all over it, no matter what you're wearing. (Or not wearing..) It's one slooty little system, apparently.
