daniel.inforede
VERSIONS, REVISIONS AND VARIATIONS. =========================== In the second half of 1978 Atari included the records of the revisions with the Part Serial Number (PSN) and the catalog number on the game boxes. The information that was registered in the Internal List of Items of the Information System, was now also available to interested parties. And how could this information assist in the reconstruction of Atari's game series? THE USE OF THE REV. ============== I have always organized games in two ways to work on research. Either in alphabetical order (easy search), or by catalog number (a natural order). With the arrival of revisions, I needed another methodology to obtain precision in the reconstruction of the series versions. ORGANIZATION BY RELEASE DATE ====================== In order to identify and map all versions of boxes in the Inc. period, I created a new session on the website, organized by the release date of the games, called “timeline”, as the revisions are directly associated with the series and their versions. I am sharing with the community so that we can insert the missing versions. Listing: https://www.atariopenbox.com/timeline NOTE: I decided to change the nomenclature of the version of the box C011822 V.2 (Warranty background and box same color) to G-C014060 and thus be in accordance with the internal documents of Atari. I am already correcting all the links on the research website and social networks, now I need to correct the links in this topic. Therefore, the old links that referred to version C011822 V.2 will no longer work. I will request permission from the forum administrators to edit the old posts. daniel.inforede
STILL ON REVISIONS.... (SEVERAL UPDATES) ============================== I like to deliver research information always in a more accessible way, I was not convinced that the list was easy to understand, so to make it easier for collaborators and researchers, I reorganized the "timeline" session. Now as in the main list, it is organized by series of labels and box versions. I think it has improved for mobile device users and has also followed the initial trend of search results. I hope you like it, as I did. Whenever you can open your collections and send data not yet validated, please contribute! Updated listing: https://www.atariopenbox.com/timeline REMINDER: I changed the nomenclature of the version of the box C011822 V.2 (Guarantee fund and same color box) to G-C014060 and thus be in accordance with the internal documents of Atari. I have already corrected all links on the research site and social networks, also with the help of @Albert all the links in this topic. Thank you very much and we follow November!
daniel.inforede
TIMELINE SESSION COMPLETED ===================== With the inclusion of the silver and children versions, we have completed the reconstitution of the series in the Inc. period. https://www.atariopenbox.com/timeline I considered the release date of the game for classification and in cases of re-releases, the approximate release date for the version, as I believe the results will be easier to access from this methodology. NOTE: Some versions that I have listed in shades of gray, have a record of existence according to internal documents from Atari! I thank all collaborators who support and help the project!

daniel.inforede
ATARI CORP: TIMELINE IN PROGRESS! ========================== From the gray labels, I started to organize the game series of the Corp period in the timeline session. With items mixed between 1984 and 1985, I find one of the biggest challenges in reconstituting versions. This series requires a lot of care with record entries. In order to help everyone interested, I defined a practical model in the following order: The year of release, for games released during this period; And in case of relaunching the year of copyright (©) of the box and / or cartridge. Any documentary evidence such as internal sales reports for the period and copyrights of manuals and certificates will be recorded for future analysis. The first version found will be used for registration regardless of the number of subsequent editions. Order of publication by series: Gray Series (complete) Red Series (in progress) Children Corp series (awaiting) Color Corp series (awaiting) Access: www.atariopenbox.com/timeline NOTE: The organization will be made by the boxes, regardless of the label and video format that contains the set.
daniel.inforede
ATARI CORP: RED SERIES COMPLETE! ========================= Moving forward in the gaming timeline, today I completed the Red Label series. The boxes do not contain revision numbers or letters on their tabs. Only catalog number information and data on printing dates. The games started in 1986 with the launch of Jr. Pac-man, Midnight Magic and Solaris, the first boxes are in the opening format Tap Flap and catalog record CA019739. I kept the same organization format: The release year, for new games; In case of repack or relaunch, the year of copyright (©) of the box and / or cartridge. Any documentary evidence, such as internal sales reports for the period and copyright of manuals and certificates, will be recorded for future analysis. Order of publication by series: Gray series (complete) Red series (complete) Children Corp series (in progress) Color Corp series (awaiting) Access: www.atariopenbox.com/timeline Edited December 10, 2020 by daniel.inforede

daniel.inforede
THE NEW FRONTIERS OF ATARI 2600 COLLECTIONS ================================== After the Space Invaders silver label cartridge, in multi-language silver series boxes from Atari Inc. (PSN C019785-32 REV. 1) found in Canada, now it's time for the silver Asteroids cartridge in Mexico! Although we only now have a CIB version of Asteroids, it wasn't the first time I came across this version in Mexico. June 18, 2020 (Wednesday - 2:00 PM BRT) ============================ On FB's Marktplace, my radar pointed to the Monterrey region, Nuevo León state in Mexico, in search of uncataloged versions, I came across for the first time the silver-labeled version of Asteroids Atari Inc. Despite knowing the silver versions of Atari Corp. and distributions released as the Polivox version made in Brazil (Asteroids: label without curves at the ends ©1979 Atari Inc.) and the Monaco version made in New Zealand (Asteroids: label with softer curves at the ends ©1981 Atari Inc.). All the features of the version matched like a genuine Atari Inc. silver series version USA. Many doubts arose such as: Where and how would this label have arrived in Mexico? And in which boxed version would it have accompanied it? Initially more logical would it be a boxed version in the multi-language format? But I never even had a clue of a silver Asteroids game box. Could it also be in a promotional box? Very unlikely. May 27, 2022 (Friday - 9:30 AM BRT) ======================== Almost 2 years later, we have a CIB version identified, initially found in Mexico and now in the possession of James Wachter. The CIB version is from the Japanese series that comes with this beautiful cartridge version, the box (PSN C019716-49) and manual (PSN C019718-49) made in the USA and both ©1981 Atari Inc. James Wachter kindly photographed and sent the images to be cataloged in the Atari 2600 game research databases and websites. Thank you James for this unique opportunity! See the photos. daniel.inforede
A new organization of contents with the same work methodology. =========================================== More than a year ago I structured a new organization to present the research contents on the website, more precisely it was on June 25, 2021 that I identified the need for this change. A more objective modeling of the presentation of information has become essential, as well as the need to include more details such as the format of opening boxes. The site has already started to receive changes, so when browsing you may find some links under construction. I appreciate the understanding of all visitors at this time of suitability. You can find the old fully functional structure at the end of the navigation menu called “Old Site”.

daniel.inforede
Transition boxes between versions! ====================== During the search for new versions and box validations, I was struck by a specific version manufactured in the first half of 1981. They were the first boxes launched with a white warranty box and © out of the warranty box. They have a standard style opening format (Standard Flap) and were manufactured by ADPAK San Francisco in the period March to May 1981. These boxes received catalog records from the previous version (C014060 | C011822 ) and some contain handwritten font style. So far I've identified 05 games made in this version: Slot Racers, Warlords, Pele's Soccer, Missile Command and Asteroids. List of games manufactured in this version: https://www.atariopenbox.com/atari-2600-box-collection/color-series/c017039-v1 I'm posting photos for everyone interested!
