swfc69
Hi everyone. I bought a 2600 JR around 20 years ago, to replace my wooden 2600. The JR worked at the time, then spent the last 15 years or so in a box in the attic, then garage. I finally decided to see if it would work. As I only had new tellies, I bought an old Bush TV last week to use with the console. Alas, the picture isn't working properly. I have taken a vid of the problem, which might offer some clues to those in the know. Any advice gratefully received. I might just buy a "new" one off eBay, if it needs opening up and repairing. Cheers! IMG_2396.MOV

Alectmc
Looks like it may be having trouble reading games, try cleaning out the cartridge slot as well as the games and see if it improves any

I have some wicked 99.9% isopropyl stuff I bought to clean up an old boombox - so glad I can use it for this too!
swfc69
Cleaned up and still not working. I tried to adjust the bit in the box that goes to the aerial out socket and that had little effect. I think I'll flog it for spares and either sell my games or buy a new jr. Is this issue happening with all of your games?
MrBeefy
Other than obviously the screen does it act like it's trying to play? Like will sound and such come out if you try to start a game? Edited October 25, 2020 by MrBeefy
Voxel
Is that Joust? A few suggestions: Open it up and check if any chips are socketed that they are seated correctly. Check the channel select switch is operating correctly (wiggle it a few times). Adjust the tuning pot for best picture.

MrBeefy
Is it a connection to TV problem perhaps then? Like bad rf
djsky717
Could be a bad TIA chip. Try swapping it if you can obtain one.
