fakecortex #1 Posted October 11, 2020 I like all the different switches on the original vcs models, and I was wondering if there has ever been any games (legacy or homebrew) that use the switches for actual gameplay? For everything I've played, you flip a difficulty switch or choose a mode, reset, and you're off. But I suppose these switches could be used to have in-game functions as well. I think I've seen homebrew carts that use the color/b&w tv switch to toggle between ntsc and pal, which is neat. This could be a really cool way to interact with a game. Haven't found a thread about this when searching, so redirect me if it's been discussed before.

fakecortex #7 Posted October 11, 2020 Very awesome, thanks everyone! Taking a look at some of the manuals for these games, it's pretty neat how they utilized the switches. Space Shuttle looks particularly sweet and is how I was imagining using them during gameplay. I actually saw its overlay before on AA but thought it was purely cosmetic. Very cool, I'll have to check some of these out. I like how some games have a pause switch, probably figured at some point that no one was using a b&w tv anymore

Technically true, though it doubles as a difficulty setting too considering the lasers use 10x energy than the torpedoes.
