Atari 2600 graphics problem

Hi,

I have a issue with my atari 2600. The problem is the image. I Don't know why and how but graphics are much darkers and différents since yesterday after playing galagon homebrew.

- No, the problem is not the tv, i try two diiferents tv and i have the same problem.

- I have the black vader Atari 2600 version

- i never seen the problem since i buy the atari ( 5 years ago)

- somebody already saw this problem ? how can i fix that ( i'm not a pro technician)

Have you knocked your machine.  Also are you able to open it, re-seat the IC's and check nothing has fallen in (including fluid), causing the moving parts,  connectors (inc cartridge), switches, leads, etc to be affected in any way.

 

I'm also wondering if one of your capacitors may be on the way out, or is being shorted out by dust or debris.

It seems to be a problem at TIA CHIP.

Is the TIA soldered to the board or does it use a socket?

If it is soldered, try resolding it and if it is in a socket, try a new socket and cleaning all the CHIP terminals before reinstalling it.

The CHIP may also be defective.

Nice and easy!  You can buy the TIA from Best Electronics.

 

PAL TIA = CO11903

NTSC TIA = CO10444 (there's a typo on the Best catalog page.  CO10444 is correct, with only three 4's.)

 

It's probably better to call them if you haven't ordered before.
