Blues76
Hi all, I know there is a post (multiple of them) that contains great info on what monitor you use or tv. There were also other recommendations about using LCD. Here is the question: Can I use a modern monitor to properly display Atari. Main problem that I’m trying to solve is space. I dont have lots of space to have CRTs. Just to give you an example, and I know this in an overkill, I have a 2K 36” inches —- I know this will probably will not work but I hope some have some recommendations. Thanks
+davidcalgary29
Yes, you certainly can. You may well be limited to composite output, though, unless you can find an older model with a S-VIDEO port, or go with a video converter unit like the Brewing Academy's BoB. I bought both of my monitors/TVs at Wal-Mart -- they're just cheapo "Aevis" and "Coby" models -- and work fine with my vintage stuff, be it my A8s, Lynx (VGA upgrade), or Nintenputer. And as you're no doubt aware, you can neither play A8 light gun games on an LCD nor get those few games that use artifacting effects (Tower Toppler, etc.) to display properly on them.
mimo
How about using a retrotink line doubled. This has also been discussed on these forums https://www.retrotink.com/ It's on my list of stuff to buy when I can scrape some cash together 2
djglish
I bought a very inexpensive converter that seems to work quite well with HDMI. It converts the composite signal to HDMI Here is the link https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RX69KR8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For about $16 I figured I couldn't go wrong. I have the exact converter. It works, but the lag is too great. Can't navigate PacMan at all, can't initiate the turn in time. Result--it's unplayable. Mrarkus
A popular option is the Dell 2001FP, as it has Composite/S-Video/VGA/DVI, and version prior to July 2005 I believe can display 15KHz RGB. I have three, and they are awesome IMHO - being in US I can pretty much use any NTSC or PAL, 8 or 16-bit machine. I have an NTSC Atari 800, PAL Atari STE and a PAL Amiga 1200 set up right now, and they look great. 1
