Is Dragonstomper the best Atari 2600 game?

Just thought I'd do a quick poll.

Seriously though, this game blew my mind.

 

I found out about Dragonstomper many years ago and even played it, but didn't find it interesting at all. I killed a bug, found a key which I had no idea what to do with, and then kept getting ambushed by monsters until I died a few seconds later. I wrote it off as just another poorly designed 2600 game and I never looked at Dragonstomper since - until a few days ago that is.

After receiving an ad from AtariAge for the upcoming game Deepstone Catacomb, I had an itch to play some RPGs. Unfortunately, the Atari 2600 library is starved of those, to say the least. After going through Dungeon I and Dungeon II, I stumbled back onto Dragonstomper and gave it a fair shake this time around. To cut it short - if you haven't played it yet, all I want to say is that you're in for quite an experience.

Another game on my to do list.   As it needs some time, I keep putting it off as a result.

 

This poll looks heavily weighted, and voters are weary these days...

Hahah... "Yes" or "absolutely".   Not weary, just weary of this poll.

 

Is it a really cool, interesting, even detailed game?   Sure.   Best for the 2600?  Well... based on what?

 

Best two player game?  Nope.

Best action game?   Nope.

Best music?   Nope.

Best graphics?   Nope.

Best RPG for 2600?   Possibly.   Just have to compare.

It's the only Atari 2600 game in which I can show my ID to a dragon. That automatically makes it the best Atari 2600 game.
